Have been listening to the arch and loving it because it’s a style of movie I love. I was wondering if my favored movie was going to pop up Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels so what are other heist style movies that the people here love. I would be curies if there is any I missed and might be introduced to
I think I’ve mentioned it before, but Reservoir Dogs is an awesome heist movie that defies a lot of the conventions of the format.

Donald Westlake’s Dortmunder novels are great heist lit. They’ve been adapted into movies, with varying degrees of success. The best is The Hot Rock, which starred Robert Redford (as protagonist Dortmunder), with James Caan and Zero Mostel (sp?) and a swell ensemble cast. They’re very 1970s, but they hold up well.
A lot of them are multi-heist pieces. Dortmunder plans a heist, and it works – but then something goes wrong, thus initiating the next, more elaborate heist. Heist upon heist upon heist.
Another fun heist Movie with Pierce Brosnan is “After the Sunset”.
