I saw this last night.
For any fans of the show I have to say don’t miss the opportunity to see it. It’s in the theater for another week, so you don’t have long. Sure, it’ll be on DVD eventually but that just won’t capture the feeling of seeing it on the big screen in 3D.
I didn’t start watching Glee until early in the second season. I very quickly became a fan, bought the DVDs and own 9 of the CDs. I often listen to them on road trips when I’m going to visit my folks. There is something about this show that just makes me happy. I often laugh, I sometimes cry and I always sing along (at least at home.) And every time Brittany says something sweet or just out there, I fall in love a little bit more. No critical analysis, no plot breakdown, I just feel joy when I watch Glee.
This is an hour and a half of that feeling. I wish I had seen it opening night so that I could have experienced a crowd of fans watching it together, but even with the handful of people in the theater I could hear clapping and foot tapping. I danced in my seat a bit and cheered when Santana took the stage to sing Valerie. In between the numbers there are little clips of the fans saying mostly the things you would expect them to say. But they also wove in a few interludes about some real people and their stories are touching to hear.
If you’re a Brittany fan, be warned. She does the “Slave 4 U” number in the skimpy costume and it’s in 3D. I will say this in the cleanest way possible. Heather Morris is simply breathtaking.
Oh, and stay through at least half the credits or so. There’s nothing at the very end, but there is a bit towards the middle with a little boy who is about 3 or 4. He does the most adorable cover of “Raise Your Glass” with all of Blaine’s moves and his own little Warbler costume.
So if you were on the fence about seeing this, I give it my most enthusiastic recommendation.
