We’re updating the FAQ (finally.)

One outstanding question is, when did SorryBarb enter the lingo here? I’m pretty sure it was during an episode where Barb called in and bemoaned the crew’s dropping of the donkey synonym, but I’ve got nothing aside from that. Any of you who are perusing the early shows should keep an ear out.

Also, if there were other questions you had when you joined the site, let us know so we can add them as well. (Unless they involved Galaxy Ranger. Some things are better left alone.)

Don’t worry, Dicekay. Your google doc is featured in the upcoming one. And thanks for the reference. I knew it had been remarked on before. (and I think the FAQ thing gets distracted from by the Spam thing.)

Here is the original FAQ thread. Should have several answers and questions ready for the rebuild.

Second SB request and home for “we didn’t”. FAQ request: “Sorry Barb”

Third request - SorryBarb?

Ah ha, I should have searched for “SorryBarb.” vB search hates anything shorter than four characters for whatever reason.

Yup, I did an advanced search for “barb” and restricted it to my user name. Was able to follow it back to the original FAQ thread.

BTW, the portmanteau SorryBarb is first used on the forum July 22nd, 2008. I can’t find the first use of the uncombined form (“sorry” is apparently too common of a word), but Barb is first called the “official censor” on April 11th, 2008. :slight_smile:

Where is the updated FAQ being kept for perusal? Or, is the current one being updated bit by bit?

Also, aren’t there like 2-3 FAQs for this site/forum?

There’s one official one (see the menu bar.)

I’ll probably post the one I’m tweaking here to get additional suggestions before it goes live. It’s essentially the current one with some additional info.

Again, encouraging everyone to post anything that confused them when they joined the site. Either with the vBulletin software or the culture/lingo that has grown up around GWC.

And good catch on the blog having its own FAQ. I never checked, assuming it was the same thing. Will have to roll them together.

How about under GWC and closed to keep it near the top of the forum? I’m suggesting closed thread to keep it clean from clutter and from going off-topic as all the other threads do. :slight_smile:

Use this thread, although I’d move it to the Support and Suggestions, for people to request/submit additions to the FAQ.
