The Electric Church by Jeff Somers

Anyone else read this one? I probably would’ve never given this one a chance, but I picked it up for free through a book club.

It’s actually pretty good. The action is nonstop, and it’s set in a dystopian cyber-punk kind of world. Sort of reminded me of Blade Runner.

The basic premise is there is an electric church which is recruiting its members by force, and to join, you have to be dead. The main character, Avery Cates, is an assassin hired to kill the churches main leader. It was hard to put down and a sequel is soon on the way. Worth checking out if this type of world is your thing.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve mused over it several times at the book store.

If you like cyber punk and haven’t tried these on yet, definately do so!

Sounds interesting. I am interested in the intersection of religion and science fiction, and hadn’t gathered from reviews that the title had anything to do with any kind of actual “church.” So I would definitely be interested in reading this one.

So many books…!
