The daily song you should listen too

Agent Smith muppet. Whoah.

I was coming back from lunch today and they played Ice Ice Baby…Not a great song but till fun. Right after that they played like a Celien Dion song or something like that. Or maybe it was Shaina Twain. I don’t know. Its a radio station that plays pretty much everything and by everything i do mean everything.

Goodbye Friendship, Hello Heartache - Cinematic Sunrise

Just pretty and uplifting, that’s all I can say about this.

You ever have somebody say to you “Checkout my friend’s song/band/music video/etc” and you think to yourself “This gonna bloooooooow” and then you listen to it and it rocks the craaaaaap out of you ear drums and gets stuck there for awhile?

//youtu.be/uU68XQJpciQ

That is pretty darn catchy Default Prophet…cant quite place what it reminds me of…i wanna say maroon five, but that feels wrong.

Currently really digging (and i know i’mma probably get slaughtered for saying this)

The Lostprophets verison of Coming in the air tonight.

While the orignal is totally awesome. There’s just something about that verison that clicks with me.

They did a version too? I dig the Nonpoint cover

As far as i know, its not on a CD anywhere. I got it on a rip from a friends cd(i think its on youtube somewhere.) I liked the Nonpoint cover too.

Nonpoint? Nonpoint? Help a brother out, y’all rap-rock fans – sometime, like 2000, give or take a year, some rap-rack or nu-metal band performed a medley of hip-hop covers called, I believe, “Da Medley.” I know it included House of Pain’s “Shamrocks & Shenanigans (Boom Sha Locl Lock Boom)”.

I think that might have been Nonpoint or Boiler Room, but I can’t find it on either CD I have of theirs from that era. Internet searching has been fruitless.

Does that ring a bell to anyone?

Downtempo and trip-hoppy since it’s snowy and grey outside listen to some Portishead. Also check out the new Junkie XL some pretty awesome hard beats going on there.

After the most awful past week imaginable, I needed a serious pick-me-up today. So I asked myself, “What Would Tires Listen To?” (A little ‘Spaced’ reference for the five people who will get that.) Bend your ears to Sharooz:

//youtu.be/U-2cMFt1LSQ

…it really vaults into the second minute.

Ha! I can so see Tires in that scene where he loses himself in the moment in the middle of the “zebra crossing” and even the horns of the angry motorists become part of the song!

DXF, you’re looking for the nonpoint song with the rap medley ?!?!
I found it for you. It’s from the first record “Statement”.
It’s called “Tribute”
check it out.

crap, if this doesn’t load the video from youtube, just search for “tribute” by Nonpoint.
Funny stories of nonpoint, I have. Met them, I did. Played shows with as well.
Tell you about it, sometime. I will.

So, I’m curious how many fellow GWC’ers are also fellow “audio-philes” …
or, “metal-heads” even.
Feel free to tell me what exactly you’re into.
Just a sample of my most recent acquisitions:
The Haunted “Versus”
Moonspell “Night Eternal”
Bloodbath “The Fathomless Mastery”
Municipal Waste “The Art Of Partying”
The Breathing Process “In Waking: Divinity”
Bonded By Blood “Feed The Beast”

  • Have been in a very “metal” mood lately.
Don’t let this fool you though. My library is pretty vast, and varied.
I can go from B.B. King, John Mayer, Tom Petty, Tom Waits, Eric Clapton all the way to stuff like Anthrax, Kiss, Slayer and then change up to Bad Religion, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys/etc…
    I enjoy most music.
    Very few “country” artists though.
Old-school real country is priceless. Not this garbage being marketed as country today. Real country: Hank Williams(Sr.), Dwight Yoakam, Johnny Cash/etc…

(Quote this post to see how it’s done.)

Thanx, folks. Fatjesus, you don’t find much crossover between the rap-rock heads and the Muncipal Waste fans. Frakkin’ A. Good to make your acquaintance, sir. A merry headbanger facerip to you!

it’s like I said, I’m into it all.
Funny you mention a “facerip” … Just listening to “HEADBANGERFACERIP!!!”
Nice.
What else are you listening to man ?

Mang, I have a backlog of metal I need to get to. And Haunted is in that stack.

New Gojira totally owns.

If you like Muni Waste, you may dig Warbringer. ( http://www.myspace.com/warbringer ) – to me, they sound like a more metal take on the same combination of crossover elements, but in a different ratio.

New Soulfly is the first Soulfly I’ve ever remotely enjoyed; it’s the band’s Master of Puppets.

And I just broke out the self-titled EP by Fistula ( http://www.myspace.com/fistula666 ) – “For a Better Tomorrow” is one of my all-time favorite songs, like a “Sweet Leaf” for the new millenium. That EP is the sludge Nevermind.

Late happy birthday, by the way. I saw it on the notifications, didn’t know if you were new or old and inactive.

from a truly great band i loved for years

“Black and White Town” by the doves

The band is slowly rising in the ranks of my iPod rotation, with harmonic references to Freddie Mercury, heavy Gretsch guitar tremolo (think spaghetti western themes), and inner geekdom that they don’t seem to shy away from. I’m not a big “music video” watcher, but this was really entertaining…

“kick up the dust” by Blood meridian

A great Canadian band that has an almost western-ish tinge to them, not in a country music kind of way but the “good bad and the ugly” kind of feel to them.

If you like it check out black mountain as well
