What do you make of this, GWC? I’ve been following the Bible code series of books and I’m still undecided whether to buy into it or not…

I’ve not heard of “Bible Code Matrix” so I googled it and then found this link on a site I haven’t had time to read much on lately:
http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/1915/whats-up-with-the-bible-code
I’m with Dex who answered the question…though I would simply answer that I think the Bible Code Matrix is bullshit.
Copy that. And if you’ve never seen the movie, “The Omega Code”–don’t.
Agreed. I found it amusing that the first guy started his video by distancing himself from astrology, then proceeded to “astrologize” using a different method.
The thing with asto-predictions that eat my cheese is that they’re all mostly topical. Nostradamus predictions were all totally euro-centric. The Bible code stuff is mostly about Israel-American relations. Nothing about the asia-pacific region, or the far-east region (including Russia), or scandinavia, etc…
There are only 10 numbers and 26 letters (in the English alphabet). You manipulate them enough, you’re bound to find the meaningful coincidence you’re looking for.
I’ve been taking a quick look through my sources and some of the links to the bible code investigation are old because it was discussed several years ago. But generally speaking, the person that claimed to have found the Bible code than challanged peopel to try and find the same things in Moby Dick. So other people did. If you open up the parameters in a large enough text, you will find anything that you want to look for.
Here is a link to a person that can talk about the subject better than I can.
I’ll join teh call of BS on this Bible Code thing…really don;t beleive the almighty has secret messages hidden if you get your secret decoder ring in your box of Cheerios…or from the Ovaltine company (“rememebr to drink your Ovaltine” <shakes fist>)
I call Shenanigans also. I would also add that I would really REALLY like it to be true, like I would like the Mayan “prophecy” to be true about 2012 (so maybe I could get my student loans wiped out like Y2K was supposed to do!), and a whole host of other things. My biggest problem has already been addressed above with the in a big enough context you can see anything you want, closely followed with: and, what purpose would this all serve, to prove how cool God and the Bible is? Sure, “I” wrote a book that can secretly predict everything, but I won’t do anything to stop it…
I’m not saying I don’t believe that there aren’t people who sense or see the future, and that we have extra senses or dimensions of seeing and experiencing the world and/or universe, but things like the bible code just aren’t one of them.
