Talk About TV Shows...

Hey, I’m pretty much biding my time till Pushing Daisies gets the axe, and that’s a show that REALLY doesn’t deserve it (if it were on cable with the numbers it’s been getting, it’d be all anyone talks about, but since it’s on a network, forget it).

Yeah, it’s a bummer. I loved to watch it just for the visual…and Jim Dale’s wonderful voice narration. I’m ashamed to say that once I found out ABC was all but axeing it, I pretty much gave up on it myself.

Yea I’m fearing that its gonna go away as well. I totally love the show its one of my favorites. But i’m going to stick with it because they last episode is supposed to be able to act as a series finale and also be able to continue over if they decided to go on a bit more. I hope they do a full season at least. Im think i can be happy with 2 seasons of a really good show. As long as they wrap it up properly. I actually think most shows should end after 5 seasons i think that about the right amount of time to get a full story arch and not have to many fillers

We at the Armando household are entering a period of mourning for the cast of our beloved “Pushing Daisies,” which has officially been canceled. :frowning:

Im right there with you brother. Another fine show is passing. The only glimmer of light i see of this si that Brian Fuller the head writer/creator is supposedly going to Heroes.

Is Heroes even on anymore? Actually, maybe Brian Fuller can breathe some new life into it. As it is, there are about four weeks’ worth of that show sitting on our DVR that we haven’t felt like watching. Pushing Daisies, though, was like a religion to us. I tended to watch it live then would watch it again immediately when my wife watched it on the DVR.

Well, we figured it was doomed when my wife introduced me to it and we both fell in love with it. It happened with Arrested Development.

This makes me very sad. How rare to have a show about death and murder and betrayal be so light and amusing. It shall be missed. :frowning:

When I first saw the show, I was blown away by how dark, fantastical, whimsical and kind-hearted the show is. Instantly, I knew it was too good to be real. I knew that it was not long for this world. I am saddened that it is getting canceled, but it was only a matter of time. There’s absolutely no way the TV execs will allow anything this beautiful to go on.

The Pushing Daisies dirge is playing over here as well. I absolutely love this show and will treasure the remaining episodes. At least with BSG, we know that there will be resolution, however devastating. I’ll miss Eli Stone too. What are people thinking when these great shows get cancelled and Knight Rider thrives? Oh the horror!:eek

I haven’t seen Pushing Daisies… or AD. One of these days…

But seriously, the last 2 weeks of Heroes have been quite good.

cries No! With so much craaaaap on tv, and they cancel all the brilliant stuff.

Speak it!!

Gonna go pout in a corner for about a month.

ELi Stone gone too? NOOOOOO! That show makes me laugh and cry nearly every episode!

Oh, you must check out AD! It was so snarky funny. Pushing Daisies was great, too, but I never watched it regularly, unfortunately.

And yes, Heroes has definitely swung back round.

Last night, as is my wont when I’m watching Elena, I got caught watching TV with my mother-in-law (which is painful for me, as her tastes are VERY different than mine, to be polite). She was watching “Ghost Whisperer,” about as sorry an excuse for a television show as I’ve ever run across (no offense to anyone who likes it, but man that show sucks out loud!). The whole time I kept saying, “I can’t believe a show that deals with death in a lighthearted, quirky yet reverent and intelligent manner gets axed but this pablum continues for years.”

Funny thing is, she agreed (she’s mourning the passing of “Eli Stone” herself. This is a show that has much love, but I haven’t been able to get into it, though I recognize that it is a rather special bit of television).

I haven’t seen Pushing Daisies… or AD. One of these days…

Get thee to a Netflix cue (or Hulu) STAT!

But seriously, the last 2 weeks of Heroes have been quite good.

Ah, hope springs eternal! So it’s worth catching up then? We’re still recording Heroes, just haven’t been too into sitting down to watch them (we’re about four weeks behind now).

Jamie Bamber played a zombie once. Well, a reanimated corpse, as well as a ghost. That was the one and only time I’ve watched the show.

Don’t worry people, I’ll watch AD and Pushing Daisies.

Once I’m ABD.

T-minus three days to the Shield season finale. Three days I have to catch up on six episodes, so that I may partake in the next-day discussion and avoid massive spoilerage.

Which, to you readers without kids, probably sounds ridiculously simple. You with kids, you know exactly how under-the-gun I am. Plus, I had some work stuff shift around, so I spent Saturday afternoon doing the work thing instead of catching up on the misadventures of Vic Mackey and crew.

As with the other seasons, this year is so tense, it’s a lot to handle, especially in double doses. Not exactly fun viewing. But good.

OMG dxf, I’ve been on the edge of my seat this whole freakin season !! The show is great this year. I can’t believe it’s all over on Tuesday…You really need to try and catch up. A co-worker of mine and I constantly text each other with our theories of how it’s all gonna end…and last week’s show threw everything into a cocked hat…it is going to be a hell of a finale, and I’ve got the night off !

Since CSI Miami has gone all tela novella I can’t stand to watch it anymore. Even the actors on the show who are decent have seriously cringe-worth dialog. I was increasingly having to choke down vomit episode after episode. And Elizabeth Berkeley couldn’t have been anymore wooden as Horatio’s ex. (What the frak–was she botoxing right before her scenes???) I have all kinds of hate to spew about CSI Miami. I officially gave up on it after last season. I too was hoping Horatio was dead but knew it was too much to hope for.

In response to Lady D pointing out our lack of high standards in the absence of BSG, I thought I’d suggest some of the TV we watch to fill the void. I generally don’t fill the void with craaaaap. I’d rather do something else than sit in front of the TV if the show isn’t worthy of my time. (Heroes has been on the bubble all season.)

Let me recommend some less conventional shows. I talk about some of them in this blog entry, in case you haven’t read it. They are far better ways to spend your TV watching time, especially if you have a DVR. (Links to and descriptions of each show in the blog entry.)

Mythbusters
The Amazing Race
Time Warp
Food Network Challenge
Good Eats

Honorable Mentions
Dirty Jobs
How Its Made (Could be more detailed–the kids like it)
Cash Cab

Also, non-family oriented stuff we watch:
Big Bang Theory (I HIGHLY recommend this comedy.)
Samantha Who (has grown on my, love Christina Applegate)
30 Rock (ok, who doesn’t watch this?!)
My Name is Earl (Jaime Pressly steals the show!)

Chick Show:
The Starter Wife (I DVR this just for me & I love it!)
