Alright. What the frak do you think all that meant? Was it just a surreal romp into a possible future or did it have some meaning for us (or them 70s folks)?
Obviously, separating the more intellectual aspects of humanity from the more animalistic can only lead to disaster. Along the same lines, the elite ignoring the suffering of the masses is doom for all.
What I think:
Humanity screwed up by messing with the natural process. Zardoz in its wisdom devises a plan to return to the natural order using Zed to achieve that end.
Yeah. There is a sense that we all need to live together and embrace our complex nature or it will consume and destroy us.
And the end is essentially a reunion of the two parts of humanity.

Truth be told, it was better than I expected. I can definitely see how this came from the same creative well as Excalibur. But still, it’s a bizarre frakkin’ spectacle.
For an almost 200 year old song, Beethoven’s 7th Symphony stands up pretty well.

No doubt, but you have to admire the completely alien and surreal elements. There is no attempt to connect with the audience. You are just along for the ride.
