The opening shot was achieved by placing mirrors in the bottom of the pool and filming from above.
Nice effect, huh?

I barely recognize William Holden. I only really know him from his later work.

This film is so dark and filled with self-pity but the music is whimsical which creates an uncomfortable tone. Is this supposed to be funny?
