Looking to get a Blu-ray player now that the whole format war is long over, I see some for 199.99 but some seam pretty cheap (Built) while I have seen some brand names for 199.99. I’d really like to stay under 250.00 but I know there are some issues with firmware and such. So who has a good one that’s not expensive?
Cnet’s editor’s choice is about $300, the Panasonic DMP-BD35. You could do some additional searches there and see what else they recommend.
In this same price range are gaming systems and most of the Blu-Ray gaming systems also do Blu-Ray movies and such. I vote for a gaming system. :D:D:D:D
That’s what I was thinking about doing!
I got a PS3, for games (400 USD) but I seem to be using it much more for DVD/Blu-ray player. The way the holiday season went, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the price coming down.
I know when I last ordered a computer from DELL, there was the option to have blue-ray added, but I don’t remember how much xtra that was.
This all reminds me of when Vhs and later, DVD, came out. I fully expect that within the next two years it will be much cheaper.
Whatever choice you make make sure the Blu-ray player has the ability to do a Firmware update, be it via Internet connection ala. PS 3 or USB. Many of the early adopters are having problems with the current gen Blu-ray discs not being able to access all the features.
