Strategies + devices to rid yard of moles? Any experience?
Trying to avoid killing them. Definitely no poison, cuz of kids at pets.
Thanks!

My Mom & Dad always used mothballs. Drop a couple in every molehill you find. Or there’s more remedies on this page: http://lifestyle.iloveindia.com/lounge/how-to-rid-yard-of-moles-4127.html
Take the advice of an expert, Carl Spackler!
“To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever. They’re like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that’s all she wrote.”
Nuke it from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure
Put little piles of calcium carbide (from a gardening store) in the holes, then pour some water on them. Wait a couple minutes for the water to create acetylene gas and let it spread through the tunnels, then light a match and chuck it into the nearest hole. The air/gas mixture will ignite, the tunnels will collapse, and the moles… will be dealt with.
No poison, calcium carbide is good for your soil.
That seriously made me laugh out loud. Bravo sir.
How careful should one be with this approach? Also, it’s close to the house. Does that change things?
No need to be super careful, the result is a ‘whoomph’ underground, but it’s more like firing a potato cannon than setting off a satchel charge. I’d do it next to my house anytime.
I’d be worried if all my underground electical (for garage) wasn’t in conduit. But I really wouldn’t want to do that near my underground gas line, but then I have no idea how old it is.
Not at all. Just make sure you set up a webcam first.
Do you happen to have a recording of the 1812 overture you could play on your recording? No reason, just wondering.
Go to your local childrens gaming parlor and find a game called “Whack-a-Mole”, bring $30 in quarters.
After some practice with that go to your local home improvement store and purchase a 16 ounce framing hammer.
Now re-enact your previous practice in your yard, quarters aren’t necessary for this part.
