So yeah; they made a third movie.
“Starship Troopers 3: Marauder” starring Casper Van Dien, Jolene Blalock, Marnette Patterson and more. The third part of the Starship Troopers series brings Johnny Rico (Dien) back as general, as he and several others try to defeat a new wave of bugs. Due for release on DVD in 2008.

I just saw the trailer on io9 - it looks okay, looks better than the original. Has anyone seen II, was that any good?
2 was okay. It has the bad Richard Hatch in it (i.e. the nudist) and was well just an overall mind frak.
Take the worst parts of Starship troopers (the movie) and multiply that by a hundred and add that to the sequel. Next, jab a large sewing needle into your eye. If you can imagine that, then you know what to expect from watching Starship troopers 2. Just my opinion mind you. i felt like I had wasted 2 hours of my life after watching it. not my kind of movie.
If the third movie has powersuits, or is halfway true to the original source material I will watch it, but it doesn’t look like it.
Remember the name Starship Troopers was merely licensed to the first movie. Which kind of sucks because it means that we will have to wait years before we might see a film that follows the book more faithfully.
I just saw this movie. It SUCKED the power suits sucked the bugs look less real then the other 2 movies and well it SUCKED. this is what happens when a movie franchies gets religion.
I saw it last night and while it wasn’t great i don’t think it sucked. I thought it was better than the Second movie.
It was good to see the power suits. They were kind of deus ex machina but it was good to see them. It had all the cheese of the first movie. I thought the Sky Marshal song was great. As long as you didn’t take the movie to seriously it was plenty fun. The bugs didn’t look great but they were much better than most Sci Fi originals (not that that us saying much). Its still not as good as the book, not nearly as good at all. But its still fun. Oh and Casper isn’t in it very much really. Also there are random boobs for no reason. Always a plus.
Well I’m sold (not just because of the random boobs). Dunno if it’s due to growing up with the likes of Doctor Who, but I’ve never given much of a hoot about how good the special effects are in movie. Hearing that Casper isn’t in it very much is a selling point, although he has grown on me a little after I listened to the commentary on the first Starship Troopers film.
