Looks like they got stuck on the bad side of Erf
They minor bad guys in the last few seasons of SG-1. Basically, after the Goa’uld fell from power, they moved into the power vacuum. Essentially, they were some sort of crime syndicate of pirates, thugs, and warlords. This group is different, though. Not sure if this is an evolution of the same villains or a splinter group.

OK syfy is really just stupid (I know, surprising). Not only no Caprica DVD yet, but SG:U 1 isn’t on DVD yet? meh.

If I’m right, they’re the ascended Ancients. They don’t interfere in the lower planes (i.e., our physical universe), you know, unless they really want to. 
I take it ascension is something that comes up in post season 3 classic 'gate
