I came across this Flickr set of a Star Wars themed wedding. Every single person was in costume:
That is wild, man!
Along those same lines, on the G4 channel they had a show with 3 hours of coverage of ComicCon Day 2. And one thing they did was show a wedding that was held I guess nearby the ComicCon convention center. And every one was dressed as Mandalorin. Mandalorin (and I know I’m spelling that wrong) is the race (or nationality? Or planetality?) that Bobba Fett is part of—and the ONLY reason I remember “Mandalorin” right now is I happen to be listening to Podcast 111 as we speak and Chuck mentioned the Mandalorins.
Anyway, the wedding was apparently a Mandalorin “ceremony” and they bride and groom were like serious about knowing what all that meant.
My geek side was very very impressed. My average joe side was thinking…eh, I don’t think my mother or mother in law woulda allowed us to do a wedding like that.
Ok, I give up. Which 2 are the bride and the groom?
It may be cheeper than the average wedding.
Heh, took me a while too. They’re Admiral Ackbar and the woman to his left.
So is $25 to the clerk of courts and $50 to the justice of the peace. Include matching rings and the Pizza Hut buffet for 4 and you have a complete weddding for under $500.
Judging from the other photos it appears to be a union between General Akbar and Mon Mothma with the ceremony performed by Slave Leia…
That first kiss must have been problematic.
Would eating calamari at the reception be in bad taste? What? I’m just saying….
Wow. That’s crazy, but also awesome that their loved ones all bought into it, too. You need everyone to throw themselves into stuff like that for it to work.
And I’m pretty sure the new spouses are Mon Mothma (awesomeness) and Admiral Akbar.
Yes it certainly would!
…but the honeymoon is an entirely different matter…
Ok - I get it. But I can’t think of any minister I know that would wear a slave Leia costume. I’m pretty sure both Pastor Brad and Pastor Levi from my church would both decline…
I wouldn’t put it past Rev Sean…
Phil - I think Rev Sean would do about anything for a cookie. Or maybe the promise of bodily harm.
Really? The groom wore a mask during his own wedding?
…do you think during the vows he suddenly screamed “It’s a trap!”
Yup, he had to lift it to do the kiss.
…do you think during the vows he suddenly screamed “It’s a trap!”
I don’t see how he could possibly not.
Next friend of mine who gets married, I’m totally going to sneak an Akbar mask into the ceremony and wait for just the right moment…
And this is why we DIDN’T have a wedding. I have WWWWAAAAAYYYYYY too many friends that would do stuff like this!
See, that’s the fun thing about being UU (Unitarian Universalist)-- I could probably get a UU minister to dress up for a themed wedding or funeral. Maybe not as Slave Leia, but definitely as, say, Lando or C3PO.
I really don’t want to see my close-to-retiring age male preacher =OR= the younger but somewhat plump young male preacher in a slave Leia costume. EVER. NEVER EVER.
Crap. Now that image is burned into my brain…
But wouldn’t church attendance go up appreciably if services were lead by preachers who could successfully pull off wearing a Slave Leia costume?
