Star Wars: The Old Republic - SWTOR (MMO) news, trailers, etc., thread

This should be my last MMO thread for awhile. But, I was surprised to not find a dedicated SWTOR thread.

Previous threads I found were:
Star Wars: The Old Republic Trailer
and
SWTOR Beta

So my hope is this thread will be the end all be all for news, trailers, etc., for SWTOR.

Recent news include:
Jedi Knight Character Progression
Taral V Developer Walkthrough
PAX East Trailer: Fate of the Galaxy
Pre-Launch Guild Program

Star Wars: The Old Republic beta sign-ups near 1.5 million
Star Wars: The Old Republic needs only 500K subscribers - EA

I’m still underwhelmed by the character designs. But after EVE, Lord of the Rings Online, and now Star Trek Online, I’m still looking for an MMO to call home.

How do other ppl feel?

I’m fine with the character design outside of the light saber hilt size. That being said…I hope it’s good. If it’s like 3/4ths of what KOTOR/KOTOR2 is I’ll be happy

All the trailers look totally sweet. I too really hope this is good. Fortunately Bioware has a good track record with Star Wars games, so I am hopeful.

Also, JollyAndy and I already created a guild for the game using the guild name reservation system. We’ll be called Brannigan’s Law (just like our WoW guild and STO fleet). So if anyone wants to play with us when the game launches, we’d be happy to have you. If the game is good enough (for me), I may jump ship from WoW.

Finally…
EA: The Old Republic not launching by July 1st
http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/03/15/ea-the-old-republic-not-launching-by-july-1st/

“So we said it’s going to launch sometime in calendar, but not within Fiscal 11. So that basically pens down between, you know, April 1st and December 31st of this calendar year. It’s also reasonable to infer that it’s not in our Q1 guidance. We gave Q1 Fiscal 11, Fiscal 12 non-gap revenue guidance, minus 39 minus 44 cents and I think it’s not unreasonable to infer that it’s not included in that 90 day period,” Brown said.

"PAX East was an amazing experience for us this year. We were humbled by the enthusiasm the community showed for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, and got the chance to meet with thousands of fans. We were overwhelmed by the response to the game; fans filled the queue for the game every single day within minutes, and many waited hours to get their hands on Taral V.

We’ve put together this highlight video to share the PAX experience with everyone. Thank you all for your support, passion, and enthusiasm for the game!"

“So today is all about my predictions for The Old Republic. Nine of them will come true; one will not. Have fun guessing which one!”

I can totally see #8 happening.

BioWare links SWTOR and KOTOR in a new novel

“Just about everyone who has played Knights of the Old Republic wants to know what happened to Revan after the game was done. After all, he was the main character for 60-plus hours of gameplay. Who wouldn’t be attached? BioWare announced today that those fans will get their wishes fulfilled. Drew Karpyshyn, a principal writer for Star Wars: The Old Republic and author of the Bane novels, has set his pen to another Star Wars book. This one simply titled after its primary protagonist: Revan.”

Drew Karpyshyn’s New Novel Revealed

"Now the name of that novel can be revealed: Revan. As well as exploring what happened to Revan after Knights of the Old Republic, in this novel readers will learn who the Sith Emperor is in the time of the Old Republic, where he came from and how he has held onto power for so long.

Read on for an exclusive Q&A with Drew Karpyshyn on Revan."

Waiting hurts so bad.

This makes me want to play Sith rather than Jedi, and I dislike playing “bad guys”. ):

Some good info about some game play.

http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/05/04/the-old-republic-expected-launch-window-confirmed/

"EA’s financial results report was released to the public today, and alongside the various bits of fiscal information is one important tidbit for fans of Star Wars: The Old Republic. On page 17 of the document, we find “The Packaged Goods title release schedule excludes Star Wars: The Old Republic, which is expected to launch in either Q2 FY12 or Q3 FY12,” where Q2 FY12 and Q3 FY12 correspond to July through September and October through December, respectively, of this year.

This is obviously excellent news for those who are anticipating The Old Republic’s release, and it’s aptly timed to boot, coming to light on Intergalactic Star Wars Day. Given that the last piece of information we heard regarding The Old Republic’s launch was back in March, we’re heartened to see that EA is still holding strong for a 2011 release. If you’re the sort of person who likes numbers and financial information for some unholy reason, the document in its entirety is available for your perusal."

This doesn’t feel like good news to me due to EA’s preference of bundling Securom on their titles…

“Also, The Old Republic birthed a new tie-in comic book. Alexander Freed, a lead writer at BioWare Austin, penned this latest tale titled the Lost Suns. The comic book features a spy named Theron Shan, who is combing the galaxy for clues to what the Empire has been doing since the Treaty of Coruscant. Freed expounds on some of the hidden secret on the official site.”

Looks like a new cinematic trailer, and it’s pretty cool.
