I wasn’t Asoka’s biggest fan. She seemed, to me, like Anikin. Some what a smart-sorry Barb but still capable, and she knows that. When its an animated show, I have a harder time taking her seriously. Anikin didn;t seem as annoying as Asoka to me; probably because there was a real man behind nikin, and it was easier to identify.
Dialouge was interesting to me, sometimes it was good, but every so often there was a real bad one that messed with me.
I also really enjoyed the overall style, the ‘camera’ and art was all really good. The battles were some of the best ever. The Jedi combat was only so-so, but the trooper fight was amazing.
Also the old city was super cool. I love art deco/that whole style and it was awesome. However, Uncle Fett was really annoying. Everything about him was superiorly pissing me off.
I didn’t realize that the Cartoon Network aired a trailer last night for the new TV show. To my surprise I found this in my youtube subscription today…
The Y-wing like ships look wicked.
I missed the trailer last night so thanks for putting the vid here. I cannot wait for this show. The show looks to be awesome. I actually heard that there is going to be an entirely new race of aliens introduced in the series along with their home planet. Plus some cool new ships. Can it be October yet?
Yesssssssss.
That looks fantastic. Nice find.
awesome trailer, plenty of Grievous action, and you can never get enough Yoda saber fighting.
Considering the success of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, Lucas should seriously consider handing over the franchise to the Brits for a well needed revisioning.
I don’t want to see Star Wars re-imagined. I like it just the way it is. Between the movies and the EU they’ve covered just about every type of story imaginable. To re-imagine Star Wars would ruin what makes it Star Wars for me.
I don’t mind the Batman re-imagining because I’ve never been a big Batman fan so it doesn’t bother me but to re-imagine Star Wars would be like the execs at CBS deciding to suddenly change Criminal Minds into a comedy, just doesn’t work for me.
Just saw Clone Wars on Tuesday night. I thought it was frakking good! There were even times when I went “Oh yeah - it’s animated” - I was enjoying it soo much that I kinda forgot!
Jabba’s creepy uncle - ick! Anakin’s padawan - loved her. She’s going to be at least as much of a pain in the (sorry Barb) as Anakin is/was to Obiwan.
FYI I caught two more new TV spots on Cartoon Network for the TV series. Nothing on Youtube yet but I 'll keep an eye out for everyone.
Haven’t read all the posts here, so sorry if I repeat other thoughts. I read the book first and really enjoyed it. Saw the film over Labor Day weekend with the 12 yr.old, who was born and raised on SW. We both were pretty disappointed.
Worse part was that old queen of a Hutt! What was that about? I have no issue with considering a gay character for SW, but don’t make him foolish beyond all reason. Fools are only funny when they’re intended to make you laugh.
My son though the mini CW shorts of old were much better, and I think I agree.
Oh my good gravy! I’ve avoided this thread because of the spoilers but I just read your post Dawn and I’m about to cry. I think I read somewhere that said, "Put a nail in the coffin. Star Wars is dead. To read your words…oh…I’ve got something in my eye…excuse me.
Well Ziro isn’t gay because Hutts are hermaphrodites, but a lot of people have made the same comparison and I can see how because it was my first reaction as well. It just didn’t bother me, but then Jar-Jar didn’t bother me either. Ziro’s voice is actually modeled after Truman Capote, and is a dead on impersonation of Capote. It seems intended to show how much humans have influenced Ziro since he’s been on Coruscant, notice he never speaks in Huttese. I think the voice fits the character because he sounds just as slimy as he really is. I’ve always felt like I needed a bath after listening to Capote interviews (there is just something about his voice) and I think it is rather appropriate for Ziro.
Very interesting observations. I didn’t even think of Capote, but once you say it, it sure makes sense. I doubt that kids will see the connection and I’m not sure the under ten set even need to know about Capote yet. I really like your comment about Ziro speaking English, because I was thrown off when he spoke (Old queen + the English). The idea that he embraced the Coruscant lifestyle is interesting, but it’s not something that made it into the book either. I would have enjoyed exploring that idea. LOL about the bath after listening to the voice, it was sorta wrong and slimy. (Pun intended.)
Well the Capote thing comes straight from the horse’s mouth, Dave Feloni in an interview with the guys of The Force-Cast. Feloni said the whole voice was George’s idea, he actually wanted him to sound like Capote. I do agree that little kids should not know about Capote.
As for the book not explaining Ziro speaking Basic (English) I attribute that to Traviss’ writing style. She tends to focus on a few characters and developing their story. Plus she was told to tell the story that she wanted to tell from the script, which is why Padme’s story was so short and very glossed over. She focused on 4 characters and since Jabba was one of them I can understand not giving us more on Ziro because it would have meant less of Anakin, Rex or Ventress.
Speaking of Rex, I sure missed him in the movie. That was another disappointment. I think the whole issue of how the clones are viewed by the general public is a very intresteing story. Are there other books that get into that side? I’m not very versed in the EU.
I’ve not heard of any directly about the topic but I wouldn’t doubt if some of Traviss’ Commando books, her upcoming Clone Wars books or Imperial Commando books touch on the idea.
I was kind of upset that Rex didn’t appear more in the movie because he was my favorite character in the novelization. I do know that there will be episodes of the The Clone Wars series that focus on the Clones so there may be some of that in the series. I just want to see more of Rex though.
Personally I really liked Ziro. He’s hilarious and IMO not as offensive as JarJar was. At least Ziro isn’t insulting my intelligence. I think the problem a lot of people have with Ziro is that they have this image of Jabba the big mob boss in their head so everyone expects all Hutts to be the same. I applaud Lucas and co for trying to do something different instead of the same old one note gangster.
I’m sure we’ll get more Rex in the series and the upcoming books. As for the life of the Clone Army just read the Republic commando series to get inside the clones heads and see how people treat them.
I found Ziro a little annoying but I didn’t mind him too much one way or the other. I just hope he’s not a recurring villain.
