I feel the conflict in Vader much more in this viewing than before. I think having seen his torn turn to the darkside so recently makes his conflict more credible. Before, I was trusting Luke’s feelings about Vader’s conflict.
Good points. I always wished that somehow Padme survived and was hidden or something. Would have made more sense and even more tragic when Alderan blows up.

that’s why i invented a conversation between anakin and ben in empire to bridge this inconsistency…i thought that ben told him that padme died believing him a good man and that ben could sense the conflict in vader knowing padme’s son lived and reminding him of his other self…
