Ok something that gets my goat in the throwawy Qui-Gon ghost line. I wish GL would go back and expand on that bit and actually show Yoda talking to Qui-Gon.
omg totally. im still crying man. but this Tatooine scene is making me happy.
Non-deathstarized Alderaan is so pretty… And we get some Leia music, very nice.
I’ll reiterate, that baby is huge. But cute!
I love that the last scene of the movie is the first scene that was filmed.
im on the credits
just started. GREAT MOVIE, well thank you Casilda. I wanna give a shoutout to the Makers of Star Wars. It will forever hold a place in my heart and soul.
Oh look, The Star Wars Alpaca makes a return.
I love the final shot.
And there we have it, folks.
It’s been great fun. I assume we’ll do same time same place next week? So I can go into detail about how whiny Luke is? just kidding, I’ll restrain myself.
and the actor they got to play tarkin–great likeness!
WHOOOOOOHOOOOOOO well im going to go make that R.I.P thread
Agreed, I didn’t realize that they had to use someone else (rather than doing some sort of effects reconstruction of the original guy) until I had already seen the film several times.
Yeah the same guy who plays the baddy in Farscape. I can’t remember the character’s name.
Luke was just a callow youth–without the benefit of years of jedi training (or maybe the detriment?) to grow him up a bit
how would you like to live on a moisture farm for 18 years?
Ahh, thank you for helping take my mind off things all. Another great frak party.
Well TighFighter I hope this kept you in good cheer, because despite my occasioanl tear-shedding, this movie has made me very happy. Deliciously so, in fact. I want more fall of Anakin! Do you hear me, George Lucas? More fall of Anakin, and more lightsaber fights!
so tell me, casilda, what’s your problem with the end title music?
I think I’m going to watch the deleted scenes. Some great scenes they droped in this episode.
well i finished it the thread its called R.I.P ep 3
I posted a few of the Jedi for you. I’ll post more later.
Well…
John Williams created many interesting and beautiful new themes for the prequels. Even just for the Revenge of the Sith, we have Battle of the Heroes, Anakin’s Betrayal, General Grievous, and other quiet cues that have lovely orchestration potential in my mind. In the rest of the prequels, we have pieces like Duel of the Fates, Across the Stars, and the funeral piece (which in Ep 1 is called Qui-Gon’s funeral, but is used in Ep 3 for Padme’s funeral as well). Not to mention the broken promise that was Anakin’s Theme from Ep 1 - a light theme that ended with dark allusions to the Imperial March, and which I had hoped would be developed throughout the prequels to culminate in the Imperial March in the OT. But that didn’t happen.
Back to ROTS end credits. There’s the Star Wars main theme, the Battle of the Heroes, and then? The Throne Room from A New Hope. Not only is it musically boring to me, but there’s nothing to be hopeful about at this point, or martial about, or bright about. And not only does it get played once, but twice with an awkwardly painful key change!
If I could have him re-do it, I’d leave the main theme and Battle of the Heroes, and then I would do a medley of Across the Stars going into an expanded version of Anakin’s theme that either ends quietly, as it did at the end of the Ep 1 end credits (uuu with teh Vader breathing, that was teh awesome), or that builds up into a rendition of the Imperial march.
Long winded answer, I know. But as I’ve mentioned before, the music is what brought me to Star Wars fandom, particularly the music in the prequels. I love it, and it makes me almost angry that such an opportunity was wasted. Plus, I don’t like the Throne Room.
