You are officially the coolest geek I know. You have combined two staples of my childhood, Star Wars and Gremlins.
Thanks. Star Wars and Gremlins were a big part of my childhood as well. I donât even remember where I got my little Gizmo but heâs a great addition to my little collection of toys on my desk.
The newest issue of TV Guide has a special CD-ROM with a look at the Clone Wars including both trailers and a sneak peak at the series.
Iâm a total spoiler-phobe, so pardon the apparent laziness of the question, but whatâs the relationship between the new Clone Wars movie, the new TV show, and the previous Cartoon Network cartoons? Does anyone have a timeline of the three handy?
Cartoon Network ones arenât perfect, but theyâre pretty swell. I just finished 'em, and enjoyed certain parts more than Eps. 1-3. They have a lot of the wit the Eps 1-3 lack. And, donât get me wrong, theyâd probably be a less satisfyting overall experience than 1-3.
The new Clone Wars movie and tv series take place during the early years of the Clone Wars which would put them in between the first episode of the 2nhttp://forum.galacticwatercooler.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=68678d volume of the previous Clone Wars series (after Anakin is knighted) and the rest of the 2nd volume. At least that is where Dave Filoni puts them, but I havenât seen an official or unofficial timeline yet and the battles havenât been incorparted into the timeline of those from the previous series, the novels or the comics of the time. That is where the new movie and series should fall since Anakin has a Padawan.
I have a feeling that the new series is going to discount some of the books so I think the timeline might get adjusted for the entire Clone Wars era.
Iâm sure theyâll cook up some way to make everything fit with the books and comics. If they can make the Marvel comics fit in they can do anything.
HmmmâŚI have a subscription to TV Guide and I didnât get a CDâŚ
I sense another big retcon in the future for Star Wars since there is no mention in any of the Clone Wars stuff of Anakin having a Padawan. Kind of reminds me of the retcon they had to do for the Fel family because Zahn created Fel child in Survivors Quest that wasnât mentioned in the NJO books when Luke, Mara and the gang travel to Chiss space and meet the rest of the Fel family.
Thatâs surprising. I didnât know those with a subscription wouldnât get the cd. I donât have a subscription so I had to get pick mine up at the store.
Thanks all! Any feel free to PM me if you wanna know how the Clone Wars end.
Online reviewers are hatinâ on the Clone Wars flick, and my trusted source whoâs seen the movie says it feels like four episodes from the middle of an arc from the TV show, though the battle sequences are awesome.
And hereâs a tastefully disapproving review from Rotten Tomatoes:
âVery young kids, Star Wars completists and Lucas apologists may find themselves compelled to attend; anyone else would have a better time going to the Toshi Station to pick up power converters.â
Ouch.
Still, Iâm goinâ.
Thanks for the heads up guys. Iâm with you dxf. I donât have over hyped expectations like the PT and this movie is just going to be a fun little ride in the universe I love so much.
Edit: LMAO Check out the Mojo pics people. His captions are hilarious. You even get a chance to slip GL the tongue.
Iâm going to end up going with my little sister, probably. I guess Iâll just try to enjoy the battle scenes.
That live action series is starting to feel awfully far offâŚ
I guess the Clone Warz series is planned as a five-season thing, so, yeah, not any time soon. One of Leo DiCaprioâs kids will be playing Han Solo at this pace.
Iâve heard at best 2009 , but more likely 2010 for the live action series. Things are in motion with the the pre-production.
Thatâs not a bad review from a fan. I expected to see a lot of bitter reviews from fans so Iâm glad I found at least one good one. I saw the movie at midnight and I have to say I loved it, slapstick battle droid humor and all. A lot of it is aimed at kids but it was still enjoyable. The battle scenes were great and I enjoyed watching Anakin deal with a Padawan who is a lot like him.
While he is a fan of Star Wars, heâs also one of the digital FX guys on BSG, so I give his reviews a bit more weight than most.
Lev Grossman over at time also liked it.
