Star Trek XI novelization

Came out yesterday, by Alan Dean Foster. Anybody else read it yet?

I’m not generally a fan of ADF’s writing style, but I have to agree with some friends of mine that it works better for Star Trek than it did for Star Wars. I appreciated the extra backstory and getting into the characters’ heads, the main reason I love novelizations. And the very ending made me smile.

Downsides: like I said, I’m not a fan of ADF’s writing. And while novelizations are never (and shouldn’t be) direct adaptations from the movie’s scripts, just enough stuff was done in an out of order manner to bug me. But hey, at least he doesn’t change character POV in the middle of a paragraph (I’m looking at you, Marv Wolfman.)

Overall, I liked it and would recommend it to people who think Kirk was a d-bag with no reason for acting so in the movie.

I’llbe picking it up this weekend

Does he make the plot coherent?

SOMEone didn’t like a certain film…

Hm, if only the Star Trek forum were up, we could debate with Pike about the movie.

Hmmm…

Yes, that’s the reason I’ll read some novelization. I’m looking forward to reading this one.
