Star Trek: Voyager 2x5 "Non Sequitur"

Dagger of the Mind dealt with incarceration very well. What is true re-hab? Therapy or re-education or mind-frakking.

I just realized I went off on a rant of this episode being difficult to follow and non sequitur means ‘it does not follow.’

Now, were my comments subconsciously deliberate…hmmm?

I like late season Voyager (i.e. after the departure of Kes and the arrival of Seven. Though perhaps not for the same reason as many people here) better. And DS9 is my most favorite Star Trek.

True but… it still doesn’t really work. IMO.

I think part of the issue with Starfleet on earth is that they’re almost always antagonists to our main characters. Starfleet’s supposed to be so fantastic, but every time we’re back on earth the crap hits the metaphorical fan, right?

I agree. I think Jeri Ryan really injected life into the series. The character Seven was complex and had depth. I really liked that they didn’t just add eye candy for eye candy sake. She was an updated Star Trek babe, equipped (sorry) for a new Star Trek. She was strong, intelligent but at the same time vulnerable and emotional. I wished they had spent time and made the rest of the cast as complex.

Ah. It suffers from all Starfleet Admirals are douches. To be honest, I never liked that either. If you’re out on the frontier and encounter a crazy Captain, that makes sense. But you shouldn’t have to deal with big headed bureaucratic morons if your society has moved past such things. How can a society free from <<enter misgivings>> and yet the gov’t/military is run by assholes?
