Ladies and Gentlemen,
For your consideration, this is what a Trek trailer used to look like:
Be your own judge.

Ah for the glory days.
Yes Old Timer. Yes.
GR, that scene of the Enterprise taking those point blank phaser hits from the Defiant never ceases to p*ss me off !!
And when did your avatar software get invaded by cheese, GR ?
For the few seconds you can hear and see McCoy and Scotty, they seem spot on. I think the shot of Kirk watching the Enterprise being built on the ground is going to make for a great wallpaper.
I saw it in the theater this weekend, but it really looks great from the HD download from the link above. It went by to fast in the theater that I missed the Scotty and McCoy remarks.
I’m optimistic at this point…
Huh. I’m skeptical, but this actually looks like a fun sci-fi action flick. Maybe not Trek, but hey, I didn’t expect it to be.
If anything, it’s purdy. Things blow up real nice on Abrams’ effects budget.
NERD ALERT: The Enterprise would have been built in a spacedock, no? It would be silly to build something as big as that on the ground. I’m assuming this is rebooting and therefor nullifying the Enterprise TV series, but even then…
They build the Big E on the ground? Uh - oh. And just how do they get it into space? Saturn V rockets attached to the nacelles? Well at least we here on Earth in the real 21st century are more advanced technologically than the imagined reality of the reimagined Star Trek (or something like that).
Yoda does it.
Big-SorryBarb Quicktime versions here.
I want to know who designed the interiors. So I can hurt them. It looks like the Apple Store on Moonbase Alpha.
Also, building the Enterprise on the ground is stupid.
Also, Sean of the Dead looks like Dr. Who wandered onto the set.
Someone give me a paper bag…
If I remember correctly Gene Roddenberry had intended the Enterprise to land on the surface of planets. But the Fx and budget limitations of the 1960’s prevented that from happening, thus prompting the creation of transporters.
Not since the trailer for “First Contact” have I actually been excited about a star trek film.
Nope, that’s what shuttlecraft were for.
LOL. Excellent. I love crossovers.
Thats right…
I wonder if the when it takes off for the first time if it will be the same as the SDF-1.
Hope they built it on an island.
