“Mr Locarno?”
“I would have gotten away with it, if it wasn’t for those meddling Crushers”

I’d feel awful about that too.
Wow, Wes got off light man.
Um, dude, you basically killed your friend.
And you “feel awful”?
I suppose if it were a stranger, you’d feel “a bit down”?

The episode would start out with all the cadets swooning over Kirk and his career. But deep down Locarno’s ambition would swell to the surface. Kirk would get in Locarno’s face and confront him since Wesley wouldn’t man-up. Nick would say something like, “Oh the great Captain Kirk is here to preach about doing the right thing. I took a risk. We all took a risk.”
Kirk would interrupt, “And it didn’t pay off. You failed and it cost the life of someone under your command. He paid the ultimate price for your vanity, Mister!”
Locarno would not cower, “And how many have paid the price for your risky decisions, Captain? For your vanity?” That would hit Kirk where it hurts since he struggles with the responsiblity of 403 crew. The death of one often evokes an impassioned speech.
Finally, Kirk would dig up something about Locarno’s past. His father’s suicide, his drunk mother, something and Locarno would launch himself at Kirk. queue Trek fight music
It would end with Locarno in a bloody heap. Kirk with torn shirt and bloody lip would engage in a magnificent monologue about duty and honor. He would lift Locarno up and impress upon him the need to report the incident and the truth to the authorities and take responsiblity for his crew and the actions they performed.
