Hmmm…Yeah. Kirk would have the Riker talk with Data but I think the Dark Matter reveal would be that it was attracted to Kirk’s ego. He gets in the shuttlecraft and flies it into toward the local star so the Dark Matter would fall into the gravitation pull. But it doesn’t work. Kirk’s ego is too strong. Spock, in command, risks the Enterprise and saves Kirk by beaming him up before the shuttle is destroyed by the star and dark matter converging.
