Star Trek: The Experience souvenir offer

The talk in podcast #214 about the ST:EXP auction reminded me that I was going to post this after the meet up. I have a couple of boxes of Quark’s Bar and Restaurant matchbooks that I bought at the shops there before it closed.

Each box has/had 50 matchbooks, one is open so I have about 70 matchbooks available for members who want one. I’m going to limit one per request until I see how many requests I get. The matchbooks will be shipped in a padded envelope to protect it (hopefully)! PM me with your mailing address to request one.

EDIT: I can’t mail these to anyone outside the continental 48 states…matchbooks can’t be sent airmail. Sorry! They aren’t supposed to mailed just in envelopes either but…

I’m going to start listing some these on ebay next week since there’s been a low response to the offer here. I won’t list them all at once so if anyone wants one you can still PM me with a request.

Good luck. I’d get one, but I’ve never been to Quark’s and I collect enough crap as it is

I know what you mean about the collecting too much crap. I’m guilty of that too. Sorry you never made it out to Quarks…good food, fantastic drinks. And the decor was outta this world!

I do hope Experience reopens in that mall this year. I’d like to see it some day. I never got the chance to visit it when it was open, but my brother gave me his best gift ever- a Borg drinking to-go container. Since no one around here knows what Star Trek is, much less the Borg, I alternate between telling people it’s an image of my dad, or else telling kids on the street it’s the jinn 'Aisha Qandisha who will take control of you if you misbehave.

Unfortunately the Neonopolis is badly mismanaged from what I’ve been reading. The Experience is rumored to open there in 2012 now, at least the Museum of the Future and Quarks. The main attractions may open even later than that. :frowning:

I don’t know how much is mismanagement, and how much is just “Vegas in a recession.” Probably a little of both.

Well he keeps losing tenants from what I’m reading…rumored to be chasing them off for hopes of filling the space with different ones. I’ve read that 1/2 of the 3 story building is empty. And the multiplex theater was closed last May…rumored that the A/C went out so he shut them down and claimed renovations. Supposed to open again next month…so we’ll see.

Vegas is particularly hard hit by the housing bust (I have a friend who has property out there.) Some of these moves look insane, but not if you know the ins-and-outs of the market/law. (Not saying that it’s the case here, but it’s possible.)

Very true. I have friends out there too. But this guy…I don’t know with all I read about him and the Neonopolis…my spideysense tingles. Something not right there.

You have pretty good spideysense, so I’ll defer
