Star Trek: TAS is online

I thought I posted this already, but it looks like I didn’t. The Animated Series of Trek is now online over at TV.com.

If you never checked it out, it’s worth a look. If you’re only going to watch one, make it Yesteryear, which was the source of a lot of Spock/Vulcan backstory that showed up later elsewhere.

Also pimped this in the news segment of this week’s podcast (out tomorrow). Good news!

And folks this was the first Star Trek series to win an Emmy.

I actually read all of these stories in book form, not knowing they were also in video form. This was in a pre-internet era when information wasn’t just sitting there waiting to be read.

When I watched the first of these (Still many, many years ago) I went through those weird stages of deja-vu. First I thought it was copied from somewhere, then I started thinking I saw it before, and then I suddenly remembered that it was from the books.

All in all I remember the stories being pretty good, but I was younger so maybe I’m misremembering. However, this won’t stop me from chewing through these like there’s no tomorrow.

I remember these shows very well. As it goes the voices were all done here in the states. The animation though was done in Norway. As an side. I haven’t seen the episode yet. But Jimmy Doohan was used to provide some of the extra voices for the show. Have to say he was a very versatile actor in that regard.

Now what would be fun is if they took the voice work and updated the animation to quality CGI. That would be something I’d be interested in.
