Star Trek Poker Games: Help Us Out

So I’m trying to compile a list of all the poker games that appear in Star Trek episodes – starting with, but not limited to, TNG. I’m going to collect these, then see if I can’t put together some analysis of each game with the goal of putting together a YouTube video featuring some professional analysis of each game.

I’ll start things off with one I saw last night. If you would, post your findings in the same format so I can grab them from my DVD set:

ST:TNG, Season 5, “Cause and Effect” – At beginning of episode

(If you have time into the DVD, include it, but otherwise I can find 'em pretty easily.)

Does the classic Kirk-invented game of Fizbin count? (I don’t know if that’s strickly poker, but it comes in handy when your trying to break out of the custody of Chicago Mob emulating Iotians.) It’s from Original Series episdoe “A Piece of the Action”. “http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dabo_girl#Fizzbin

Definitely looking for straight-up poker or other “real” variations.

Here is something to get the ball rolling. Can’t vouch for completeness but should help kickoff the process:

Violations, Episode 112
As Troi gets ready for bed, however, she has a memory flashback: poker chips falling

Rule of Three, Episode 118
Commander Riker, Lieutenant Commander Data, Dr. Crusher and Chief of Security Worf playing poker. Riker bluffs, but Crusher calls it. Before it can go any further, the doctor is called to sickbay

Lower Decks, Episode 167
She swears Ogawa to secrecy about what she has seen, and Ogawa manages to keep the secret that night when she joins her fellow junior officers for a poker game.

Measure of Man, Second Season

Time’s Arrow, Part I Epi 226
The stranded Data quickly adapts to his surroundings. He wins needed funds in a barroom poker game, gets a hotel room and sets out to build a communications device to get back in touch with the Enterprise.

Descent, Part I, Ep 252
Curious to see how three of history’s greatest minds might interact in an unique setting, Data plays poker in the Holodeck with computer-generated recreations of Professor Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein, and Sir Isaac Newton.

Liaisons, Ep 254
Back on the Enterprise, Worf has had about all he can take of his abrasive, demanding guest. Riker decides that the tension might be eased by a “friendly” game of poker. The game is anything but “friendly,” and Worf realizes that Byleth is stealing chips.

All Good Things…Ep 747
Final scene…“and the sky is the limit”

Understood. I don’t know why, but when you mention Star Trek and cards, the first thing that popped into my mind was Fizbin. But that’s not really a card game scene that can be analyzed.

Solai’s list seems pretty complete…racking my brain but can’t remember any other ones. And TNG is the series that had the most actual poker game scenes. I don’t recall any from ENT, TOS, Voyager or DS9…

What was that TNG episode where Data and his shipmates are astounded to see Data’s card dealing to strangely follow the same pattern over and over–and that clue leads them to the discover some weird phenomenon is occuring?

That was ‘Cause and Effect’ as noted by Chuck I believe

STTNG - Season 6 - ‘The Quality of Life’ I believe that’s the one where Dr Crusher tries to get a bet going with beards on the line.

Hmm…

I am sure I will miss a few, but here are the ones I remember…

Season 2: The Royal – not a officer game, but on the “planet”.
Season 2: The Emmisary (opening scene)
Season 2: Pen Pals - i THINK this is the episode where they let Wesley play…
Season 3: Alligiance - fake Picard interrupts the game to pull Deanna out.
Season 3: Best of Both Worlds Part I - Shelby plays in the normal officers game…
Season 5: A Matter of Time. - If I remember correctly Rasmussen question the poker players on what changes they most appreciate.
Season 5: Time’s Arrow Part I – Data plays in Old San Francisco to get some cash…
Season 6: Descent Part I : Data plays with Newton, Hawking, and Einstein.
Season 7: Lower Decks - flashes back and forth from senior and junior officer game
Season 7 : All Good Things Part II - Picard finally joins the game

That is all I could remember off the top of my head
