There were so many rumors floating around at the time. People were saying “Trek is dead.” I couldn’t believe it. The stuff coming out of Rick Berman and crew was horrible. Their well had run dry.
May I go to?
Woooah! Holy Crap those are awesome pictures? And I see Dr. Crusher there too!!
Um…Road Trip! I’m off to Thot’s house. Have Shat cleaned and polished for me.
I actually didn’t take the Frakes picture. But that is what D*C is like, which is why I love that con so much. Many of the actors walk around and will stop and talk. Plus at the Walk of Fame (where they sit to do autographs), many of them, if not busy will stand and talk to you.
D*C 07 - was amazing when it came to Trek and BSG - Brent Spiner, Jonathon Frakes, Gates McFadden and John de Lancie, Jamie Bamber, Aaron Douglas, Mark Sheppard and Richard Hatch.
He always wants to join in these Frak parties. Tonight I said “Um, Bill, you’re actually not in this movie”.
He said “Whut?!”
…and walked back down the basement stairs sulking.
Sometimes ideas must sit s bit of time like oh 7 more days.
Yes you do. The only bad part is they did a BSG vs Trek panel that from what I hear was very difficult to sit through at the beginning (I missed the first half as I had just arrived and had to get my badge). But that was because they weren’t given any direction and didn’t have a moderator to get the discussion going.
Granted there is an entire Trek Track at D*C. Last year it was Michael Dorn, Avery Brooks and Cirroc Lofton
Better yet:
Kirk is to Spock
as
Geordi is to Data…or
Data was to me. :(:(:(
I know the characters of Geordi and Data are SUPPOSED to be friends.
But those actors just never quite had the chemistry with one another.
I think the Picard-Data bond is the strongest in TNG.
Not Data and Spot?
It was awesome listening to the Ron Moore commentary on ST Generations.
Apparently Brent Spiner HATES cats. So his scenes with the cat were not easy for him.
I really need to go back and watch/listen to some of the commentaries. Something I have done for any of the Trek movies.
Well Data seemed to love Spot.
I was thrilled when, at the holodeck HMS Enterprise sailing ship scene, Ron Moore mentions that he’s a big fan of the C.S. Forester “Horatio Hornblower” books series and the Patrick O’Brian “Aubrey/Maturin” series of books.
Because I am too!! Read 'em all and loved them.
The “Horatio Hornblower” novels are partly what inspired Gene Rodenberry to create Star Trek. Captain Hornblower as the captain far out at sea having to make decisions on his own, just as Kirk is out in space having to make decisons on his own.
Good acting.
Well, (I’ve been overusing the word "Well’ today)…Well, bedtime for me folks.
Glad ya’ll could be here.
Good nite.
I was actually watching a documentary on that a few months ago. It caught my attention being a Hornblower (the A&E miniseries version at least) fan - seen as Jamie Bamber was in 4 of the 7 of them. I have listened to one of the audio books, but I fell asleep on it partly because of the person reading it and his darn Welsh accent (Ioan Gruffudd)- it was day 7 of our London trip and we drove 5 hours each direction to see the ship they filmed on.
The Horatio Hornblower books are entertaining.
But the Patrick O’Brian “Aubrey/Maturin” series of books is wonderful literature.
Captain Jack Aubrey and Dr. Stephen Maturin have been compared to Kirk and Spock in terms of great contrasting characters who form a deep friendship.
Ah, Okay I’m off to bed for real now…
