Damn, the resemblance is amazing!
Did anyone else read the first issue of IDW’s monthly Trek comic? It was a reworking (barely - stayed pretty true to the source material) of “Where No Man Has Gone Before,” only in the Abramsverse. I am guessing that means the sequel won’t feature Gary Mitchell, either. But the original point from 09 holds true: in that shot, Karl Urban does look amazingly like Gary Lockwood!
Yup. I’m reading Star Trek Ongoing. #7 just came out yesterday. I will read it soon.
Cool, they’ve done “Where No Man Has Gone Before”, “Galileo 7” and “Operation: Annihilate!”. But #7 is an original story. Can’t wait to read it!
I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I was kind of surprised they didn’t take more liberties with “Where No Man…” than they did (shameless plug alert, you can check out a review I wrote of that first issue at http://thescifichristian.com/2011/09/going-not-so-boldly-yet-where-trek-has-gone-before-comics-review/), so I jumped ship (ha!) early. I am a little intrigued by original stories, though, but I’m afraid my budget won’t support another ongoing monthly at present. Alas!
I did notice the great slow build ups of drama in “where no man…” and “Galileio 7” don’t translate well to comics. That 30 seconde pause of “jim…you better be good to me…” just isn’t the same.
