Anton Yelchin is Chekov
Simon Pegg is Scotty
Zachary Quinto is Spock
John Cho is Sulu
Karl Urban is Bones
Zoe Saldana is Uhura
Chris Pine is Kirk
Winona Ryder is Spock’s mother
Tyler Perry was also cast
So is Nimoy, and at least somebody else…
Winona Ryder as Amanda?
Okay, I’m officially old.
I like the idea of Pegg as Scotty, if he can pull it off.
Anton Yelchin: Lots of acting experience for his young age, and actually Russian. I’ll have to see him in his mop-top haircut to know for sure.
Simon Pegg: A brilliant and talented guy. Don’t really see him as Scotty, but like DanTLOK, I imagine he’s good enough to pull it off.
Zachary Quinto – YES!!! This is the single bit of casting that makes me have hope for this movie. He’s got the perfect physicality and temperament. Huzzah!
John Cho: He certainly looks more like a young George Takei than the guy they cast in that episode of Heroes. I’ve not seen Harold & Kumar or anything else he’s in, so I cant’ speak for his acting chops.
Karl Urban: …not working for me. I’m not a fan of him in LOTR or Doom or anything else. This one just frankly puzzles me. If Conner Trinneer hadn’t already been used for ST:E, he’d have been perfect, though maybe I’m just thinking of the accent.
Zoe Saldana: Again, haven’t seen anything she’s in…but what a cutie! I always had a crush on Uhura as a kid, and now I’m having it all over again. Warp speed to you, miss!
Chris Pine: I see a fairly generic, good-looking-all-American-boy type, which I guess is Kirk. Haven’t seen him act, but his imbd sheet is mainly teeny-bopper stuff. I’m crossing my fingers on this one.
Winona Ryder: Hm. I had a bit of a spit take on this one too, Lady D. Always been a fan, but does she have the gravity to play a human woman married to a Vulcan?
Tyler Perry: As Medea?
Zachary Quinto was definatly the best choice for spock, even before it had been announced I was hoping it would be him. I was kid of hoping that Masi Oka would be Sulu, but I suppose that would be too much to hope for. I’m not sure that Simon Pegg is the best choice for Scotty, he’ll probably do a good job though. Paul McGillion would have made an excellent Scotty
Good call. A little too on the nose, maybe?
Was I dreaming this, or did I hear that William Shatner has a cameo?
Some others according to SciFi magazine:
Bruce Greenwood as Pike
Eric Bana as the yet unnamed villain
Jennifer Morrison has also been cast in the movie, there has been no official word on the role, many are speculating that it is Number One (Pike’s first officer).
To be perfectly honest, I don’t think any of this casting other then Quinto and Pine, and maybe Bana will matter much. Its one movie (for now), so how much screen time could possibly go to each of the characters? Since there are very few official details about the movie right now, all that is being reported is the casting since that’s basically all the news there is. When the trailer comes out next week, all that will change.
Evidently, Jim Kirk’s dad George and mom Winona will be in it, per the follwing link:

Tyler Perry is evidently the haed of Starfleet Academy. If he plays it straight, I’m cool.
Her’s the thing that bugs me though…The Enterprise (as you can see inteh photo in the link) looks more like the Enterprise from the movies rather than the 60’s series. I’m all for a re-imagining (worked for BSG, Batman and Bond) -but if that’s what it is, call it that.
Beyond hot - uber hot. She was in The Terminal with Tom hanks (and played a Trek fan) and Guess Who with Asthon Kutcher.
Yeah - that lil red mini is gonna look good…
Like many fans I am concerned with the upcoming Trek flick…however I did hear something that helps ease it a bit

just as an FYI
Eases it if your name is James Cawley, that is.
