Yay! for the Trinity of Trek Tart Trainees! I loved it too. I want to rewatch it before I have to take it back to the library, since I’m sure I missed a lot.
I know a lot of these guys consider II and III to be two parts of the same story, and while I agree that the subject follows that, the tone of the two movies was so different.
Just wait for IV. Your questions will be answered!
Well said. I’ve been thinking a lot about Star Trek III today. I haven’t watched it in a while, but I know it by heart of course. I’m bummed I missed the Frak for it last week. There’s so many great moments/lines in this movie. When Kirk says “The answer is ‘no’. I am therefore going anyway.” the movie really starts to soar. Kirk and his friends are willing to steal the Enterprise just to help Spock (and McCoy). And you feel totally with him, it’s his ship and he needs it so the takes it. And when his son is killed, his back is against the corner, Kirk brings his revenge down on the Klingons killing 'em all and destroying the Enterprise. Don’t mess with Kirk. He doesn’t like to lose.
Thanks for reminding me that you haven’t seen IV yet. I keep assuming that everyone’s seen all these movies, but obvious that’s not so. I’ll keep my month shut and not spoil you.
Yeah, that’s a good point. Now that I think about it, they really do stand individually as stand alone movies. The tone of the two movies are different–even opposite one could say.
I was gonna skip rewatching Star Trek III just because I want to keep up, and I since I know it by heart I don’t need to watch it to follow along.
But now I’m feeling like I really want to see it again.
Thank you Trek Tarts!
