Some of the criticism I’ve heard about this film is that it is very somber. I find it touching. It was directed by a person who knew and loved Trek. Nimoy was responsible for so much that made Star Trek great.
We already think you are anyway.
Yeah. I guess. But I don’t want to take all the credit.
You know I still laugh about the live podcast in Texas. When Chuck was talking about the Trek episode and I said ‘The Enemy Mine’ instead of ‘The Enemy Within’. I give the crew so much credit for getting so much correct. That live thing is difficult.
It’s funny but the Hive Mind (Thot) corrected me and Chuck saw it on TalkShoe. Glad he didn’t call me out.
I also bragged about knowing the Stardate but I was wrong about that also. I’m glad I didn’t shout it out. I thot it was 1312.4 (which is ‘Where No Man has Gone Before’) but it’s actually 1672.1
So as you can see I’m not infallable (spelt incorrectly for comic effect)
So true. I always loved this one. It always seemed like the middle episode of a trilogy. How could it ever be left out?
Nobody ever said you were Space Pope.
In any case, most of us wouldn’t know the difference anyway. As you know, you have my blind faith in all things Trek.
Yeah. I think if we had more time before the new Trek movie, the Crew would have done them all.
well, my lovelies, laundry beckons. a blast, as usual, was had…by me anyway
Nite D. Vanquish the laundry demon! Set phasers to tumble and dry.
Aww, can’t you get one of your students to do it for extra credit?
Sure, sure they would have.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…
Damn!! I’m sorry I keep missing all these great frak parties!! It’s not from lack of interest. Damn traveling for work getting in the way.
Star Trek II and III are like my favoriate movies ever. I think of II and III as one big great movie. And III has such great moments: Stealing the Enterrpise, Scotty: “Up Your Shaft”, Kirk: “Sorry about your crew, but as we say on Earth, c’est la vie.”
Uhura: “This isn’t reality. This is fantasy.”
Sarek: "You will find a way, Kirk. If you honor them both, you must. "
Kruge: "I’ve come a long way for the power of Genesis, and what do I find? A weakling human, a Vulcan boy, and a woman! "
Indeed we would have. Had we had more time in the car over the meetup you’d have heard me evangelize all the Trek films. I didn’t always feel this way, but I do now. There’s something truly valuable to gain from all of 'em, and if BSG hadn’t crowded up so tight to the new movie, we’d have definitely done all the movies – and we certainly will at some point. I’m really, really glad you’re taking up the slack here by frakking 'em anyway.
Since I didn’t get the movie until today… I’ll have my own little addendum to the frak party…
stay tuned (I know, I know, all are waiting with bated breath lol)
And I make good on my previous post’s promise:

[li]It’s Klingons that look like Klingons! This is very exciting. Qapla!
[/li][li]THAT’S Saavik? Oh dear.
[/li][li]The crazy McCoy stuff is kind of creepy.
[/li][li]Seeing the Enterprise explode is really quite upsetting.
[/li][li]So Genesis was the inspiration for Mustafar?
[/li][li]I’ve totally seen the end of this film many times. I’m not sure why, and I don’t think I knew what it was when I saw it. This is also odd
[/li][li]Awwwww I am and ever shall be your friend. One of the best lines ever.

I actually enjoyed this one a lot, I don’t see why it’s seen as “bad.” It’s certainly not stand alone, but within the context of WoK I think it’s quite good.
sigh These kids today…
hitches up onion belt
Cas and I, your resident noobs!
Ok, so my thoughts. I didn’t like it as much as II. But it was good. What I loved about WoK was that it continually made me laugh out loud. The interplay between the characters was so much fun. In SfS, there wasn’t as much of that. The tone was more serious, and I think part of that gets lost in the cheese factor. Certain scenes were fantastic, though:
-Stealing the Enterprise. I almost started to believe they were gonna hit those doors. cringe
-McCoy’s scene near the end with Spock’s body. LOVED it! It was sweet to see the grizzled old doc acknowledge his affection. sniffle
-Kirk booting Kruge in the face was sweet justice. cheer
Ok, just about time to frak IV, so I’ll leave it at that.
I agree. I don’t think ST III is bad at all. In fact it’s probably my 2nd fav, after Wrath of Khan.
I look forward to it for next year.

I know. Just giving y’all a hard time.

I don’t think any of the regular Treksday frakkers ever considered not watching them again, whether they were part of the 'cast or not. It’s really great that others have been interested, as well.
One more noob reporting for duty.
I watched this while reading all of your comments, like my own hivemind commentary. Spock is my favorite character(his logic appeals to the mathematician in me) and when he died in that tragic and selfless way, I was heartbroken. So there’s no Vulcan way I could miss Search for Spock. Love it or hate it, this film was absolutely necessary. I loved that even though our physical Spock was gone for most of the film, his presence was palpable. There were some fantastic moments in this film, which I won’t list again, but in the end, if there were no more films after this one, I would have been quite satisfied. How do you have more Trek without the Enterprise? Isn’t it like BSG without Galactica? I’m interested to see how this franchise continued without their ‘wessel’.
