Everyone always says how weak the first season was. I’ve never thot so. The show certainly got better with age, so it’s definitely the weakest of the seven, but that’s only looking at it in hindsight, IMO.
I’m new to ALL Trek. The first Trek episode I ever watched was Space Seed to prep for Wrath of Khan.
Next Gen is lot different than original series. But it’s got some awesome stuff in it.
I have never really sat down and watched it all the way through. I have scene many random episodes. This will be a good chance to finally do it.
Goodnight everyone. Yard work day tomorrow.
It was so exciting to have new Star Trek on TV that I forgave the 1st season for maybe not being what it could have been. But, as you say, it got better with age.
Night, NBR!
The first two seasons are on Hulu. I have the links on the frak party threads.
I’m actually excited to check it out! bounce bounce
(and I’ve maybe had a bit too much caffeine and too little sleep…)
Good night all.
I watched it as soon as it started airing and watched it straight until the end. Like Thot said, I was so excited about having new Trek, I had to watch.
We’ll do Next Gen immediately after TOS is over on Treksday.
You go girl. Let me get up off the floor though. I fell off my chair just now when I read the words “Star Wars movies last year for the first time”. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen such words in the same sentence before.
I have just two words for that awesome idea: “Woot” and “Squee”
Good night, NBTR & Leah!
Maybe in 1977.
LOL! I rebelled long and hard against my geek-ness. No matter how hard my friends and boyfriends tried, I would refuse to watch them. I even once told my best friend that after 10 yrs, I was surprised he hadn’t Star Wars raped me, as in forced me to sit down and watch it. They all cheered when I finally did. Last Sat night, my best friend and I were up til 4:30 am talking Trek. It’s a whole new world for me since I decided to embrace my inner geek!
I always assumed we’d just do all the series, one after another. I guess TNG & DS9 overlapped somewhat, so we’d probably interleave them like we’ll do with Buffy and Angel.
Speaking of that. Did you like that Hurley bit in Lost this week?
Night, Leah!
Encounter at Farpoint, with the exception of the Q stuff, was soooooooo bad, and Naked Now irritated me because I thot of it as an unimaginative ripoff. I stopped watching after those 2. a good friend convinced me to give it another try about halfway through the season, and I was hooked
Hells yeah! I would have done the same thing.
