Star Trek Exhibition in Philly - Meetup Interest?

Hey, everyone! I heard that there has been some talk about attending the ST exhibit at the Franklin Institute. If we get enough people (15+), we can pay the group rate. I was thinking this would be a nice event to make a family thing. My kids would enjoy it, or at least my son would.

Tickets include not only the ST exhibition but also admission to the FI. It has some neat exhibits that families enjoy. To see what they are, click on the second link below, then click on Exhibits, then Continuing Exhibits. Last time we were there for the Star Wars exhibit, my kids made paper–old school.

I’ll talk w/ my hubby about the details. He knows Philly much better than I do, but I think we could probably spend several hours at the FI and then get something to eat, enjoy each others’ company, somewhere family-appropriate. I think it could be a really fun day.

The 'talos tribe is on board. (4; 2 adults, 2 children)

EDIT: 2 daughters (8 and 6)

depending on what day the THX family would be there (3 total - 2 adults 1 child)

My Son is 5 (well 5.5  how about the other kids that might come?

we are not picky.

Keara - How many would your family Be for this event?

If both my kids go, then it would be 4 of us–my son is 9 and daughter is 6.

As long as I am around I would like to go, of course it is just me, no kids or significant others to bring.

yeah. great! Ok thats 12 if we can get three more we would make the “group” discount…

Depending on dates, I’m a possibility.

Why would your attending depend on dates? There are figs, prunes, raisins, any number of weird little fruits you can equally depend on! :stuck_out_tongue:

What are the proposed dates? The group rate makes this a possibility, though I’d need to bounce it off the XO. (I think she’d like to come. Whether the kids would be interested is another matter, though if there are other kids around I know Olivia won’t mind. Elena doesn’t care either way yet.)

But I don’t like those other weird little fruits! I do like dates. Especially in Lära bars.

Brought my kids to that already - and they really enjoyed the exhibit. After that - a quick shot to chinatown to get the best dumplings in the area!

OK, now that the NY meet-up is done and over with (and much fun was had by all), I figured I should bump this up and see what weekends work for everyone.

I know I am busy the weekend of July 17-19, Aug 7-9, and Sept 4-6…

So any suggestions from everyone?

I might be able to come, depending on when it is. I will have to check dates & get back to you all! I can tell you that I work every other weekend. For example I just worked this past weekend, but I have this coming weekend off & so on.

Thinking about finances, I think August or September would be the most likely for me to be able to come.

I couldn’t make Aug 7-9, 14-16, and Sept. 11-13. But I’m definitely interested!

Alright, I will not be able to make this. My girlfriends and I decided to vacation in North Carolina the weekend of Aug 14-16. Have fun whoever goes!

This is possible. I’d probably take Amtrak in, so that might be an issue.

Why would Amtrak be an issue? I may end up taking the regional rail, and it says it is a short walk from Suburban Station and moderately short from 30th street.

I really dislike driving in the city.

You would be coming into 30th street and can either walk from there or jump on the regional rail 1 or 2 stops to Suburban Station.

I have no notion of Philly, so it may not be an issue.

I am sure you will be fine. Honestly i don’t now a whole lot about center city, so I don’t know how far the walk will be.

Maybe Badger and Keara and fam will take Amtrak in too - then we can all meet and walk over.

Of course we need to pick a date first
