I like to think that the establishment of the new timeline leaves our known Trek cannon intact. Which is pretty easy to show; multiple episodes have shown that there are indeed parallel universes with varying degrees of difference. I think Data even said once that the infinite possible outcomes from any one moment in time can and do occur, splitting off into infinite parallel timelines. But I couldn’t help but chuckle when I realized that, if the new timeline from the new movie splits from our original known timeline when Nero takes his ship back in time and attacks the Kelvin, then the only established cannon we’ve seen that remains intact is the Enterprise series, as it’s the only cannon Star Trek we’ve seen that occurs before that time! I hate on Enterprise, but it wasn’t THAT bad, the final season got cool. But then, all the time traveling Kirk and Co., Picard and Co., Cisko and Co., and Janeway and Co. did in the original timeline will occur differently in this universe, if at all. That absence or difference would affect how Archer and his Enterprise appeared and occured in this timeline. Brainbending! I just love to ponder it all. Here’s to the new order!
