Neelix and Wesley were leading the Most annoying Trek character poll. It is time for Bracket match with two challengers.
In This bracket we have Wesley and Kes. Who is the more annoying Trek character?
I dont really remember exactly what made Kes annoying, so I had to go with the Wes-man.
i personally liked Kes, and felt had them not interrupted the Year of Hell arc and brought forward the Borg arc for the sake of introducing 7 of Nine, Kes’s story would have been wonderful.
Having said that, here are some of the most common criticisms on Kes. She’s sickly sweet to everyone and everything on every occasion. Her relationship with Neelix which took up much time the first few season was just weird. For the most part, she was rather useless to the crew. The way she left Voyager on would have been fine, but the writers decided to stop any fans from liking Kes again by bringing her back in a vengeful rage for no reason at all…
Kes was just a horrible character, She was like the character that would have been invented if Gene Roddenberry and gotten drunk, saw an episode with Picard and said “this guy is too mean, military, adventure, and excitement full… we need a character that’s less of these things than the TNG crew!”
I liked Kes well enough until she left… I don’t think that was done too well. And I adore Seven, so the comparison isn’t really fair. The episode later in Voyager when she came back was just… ugh.
I never really had problems with Wesley, except for his sweaters 
The two part year of hell episodes was supposed to be the arc in season 4, and the borg arc would be introduced in season 5…
We could have gotten an almost BSGish, alone ship being chased and pounded every where it turns to, situation. We had some of Kes’s originally planned arc in the episode where Kes flashed forward in Before and After.
But they wanted to boost the ratings by bringing the borg forward and add 7 of Nine for… additional audience. So the entire seasonal arc ended up being a two parter reset button with a setup by Kes that no longer makes sense… because she isn’t there anymore…
it’s 6/5 split in both bracket…
I actually voted for Kes, 'cause at least Wesley never came back all evil and tried to kill everybody. Ooh! I smell a new Next Gen novel…
