Star Trek 1x19 Arena

The most basic formula is equal parts sulphur, potassium nitrate, and charcoal, finely powdered and mixed. Just piling them together like he’s doing isn’t quite enough to get the desired reaction.

no kirk, don’t kill him. it’s not the right thing to do!

Nicely done. Fifth Element reference.

Gayest. Alien. EVER. :stuck_out_tongue:

so how many times has humanity been “judged” over all the different versions of trek?

and I take a bow.

it’s kind of funny when I see it dubbed in spanish with my MIL that part is the same as in English.

Maybe in a thousands years. Not much changed in 150,000! Roddenberry always the optimist.

the there is bones, all emotional-like and stuff.

Gold Stars, gentlemen! Gold Stars!

hm yes a thousand years is a bit more optimistic than some other projections bandied about.

hm. so that’s the gorn.

I think now I need to go back to figure out how this romance between the gorn and 'talos began. I’m sure it’s a lovely story

That’s kinda the point. Trek is supposed to make us look at ourselves. Thare be lessons to learn.

Between this and Next Gen was what, maybe 80 years? They went from “wagontrain to the stars” to socialist utopia in that time. Now that’s optimism.

At least in B5, it was a good million years before we were on par with the Vorlons.

It all started with a rash.

Doesn’t it always? :stuck_out_tongue:

With all that rubber it’s no wonder! Should have gone with the latex-free stuff.

And having read some of the epic gorn-curious discussion from last August in the stupid and asinine wanderings thread… oh my frakking god, this is one of the funniest things in aaaaaaaaaages.

bravo.

Goodnight All!

Good night, Topgun! Enjoy your classes tomorrow.

You’ll be around for Buffy, I trust?

I liked Arena alot. The most intruiging part for me (besides the Kirk/Gorn ‘embrace’ :p) was the crew’s reactions to Kirk’s predicament. This is the first time that I got the voyeur feeling while watching Trek. Watching them watch Jim felt as though I was intruding on their anxious moments. This was the first time that I deeply felt that family connection of Enterprise’s crew. I really enjoyed that.

Somebody’s gotta put a lojack on Kirk. 2 episodes in a row where he just disappears from the bridge. I know he’s desirable and all, but dayum! Do we ever see Gorn again? Or the shiny happy metron?
