Ah, it took me a bit to jog my memory, but now I remember.
This is the episode where Picard has the memory flashbacks to serving on the Stargazer.
There’s some really awesome Star Trek novels revolving around the Stargazer and her crew (under Picard’s command).

I’ve read Reunion, and I think five out of the six Stargazer novels. Good stuff!!
That episode was weaker than I remember. It’s amazing how much cooler it seemed when I was a kid and there was no other sci-fi available.

I totally agree (even though I’m not watching it now). TNG seems so overshadowed by things that have come after it—like Firefly, BSG, etc.

A lot of it, yeah. But, IMO, most of it holds up pretty well. Just not this episode.
True. I’m being too harsh. The series got better, and there’s some gems even in season 1.
