without the Q story, it would have been awful! and the show did take a while to find its footing. when I saw Naked Now, I was so disappointed in what I considered the lack of imagination in ripping off the TOS ep Naked Time that I stopped watching for a couple of months. fortunately, a friend convinced me to give it another shot

I stopped watching during the second season. I was 16 and well…you know…out and about. One night I got home from a night of revelry and Best of Both Worlds, Part 1 was on. I was like, “I need to start watching this again.” I got the VCR revved up.

Unlike most of the godlike aliens that Kirk faced, Q had no external power source to destroy. Without another godlike entity playing deus ex machina, Kirk would have been hard-pressed to get himself out of this one, methinks.
