ST:The Next Generation 4X02 Family - 8/31 @ 11PM ET

Piller recalled, “The normal objections were that we were not serialized. We try to tell stories that can be told in one hour and that’s what we do very well. When I got to the end of Part II, we made the decision not to extend it and I called up Rick and said, 'Hey, listen. Next week Picard can be fine, but for a show that prides itself on its realistic approach to storytelling, how can you have a guy who’s basically been raped be fine next week? There’s a story in a man like Picard who’s lost control. Delving into the psychological crisis that a man like that has to face, and what does he have to do? ’ Finally, I was persuasive enough to talk Gene and Rick into taking the chance, and I think everyone is glad we did.”

“This synthehol never leaves you out of control, eh?”
“Yes.”
“This will.”

Interesting that they compare it to rape. In all fairness, it’s probably even more invasive than that. And not many actors could have made that clear on screen. :frowning:

“Did you want me to look after you again?”

I like to think Robert knew that was coming. He took one for the team.

“You have been terribly hard on yourself.”

This gets me every time.

Love this. Watching as a kid, I hated Robert. I saw him as a bully, just like Picard said he was. But watching now, it’s obvious that he was pushing Jean-Luc in the only way that he could get a reaction, in the way that only family would know how. :frowning:

“You know what? I still don’t like you Jean-Luc.”

I love that.

The song sung by Robert and Jean-Luc after their fight in the mud is Auprès de ma Blonde, an old and well-known French folk song.

More untranslated French! Hooray!

I guess the Universal Translators don’t work on singing. :stuck_out_tongue:

“Perhaps it was. Perhaps it was. … I’ll have to get going.”

Now clean this mess up woman.

I’m sorry.

Why should you be sorry? They’re obviously not.

Me too, brother. A lump in my throat every time.

Why did they kill Robert and Rene…and…snif… the one called Kirk.

Ron Moore is Evil.

and so is his pretty hair.

Come to think of it, I remember feeling that way too…that Robert was being a bully. Now I see he was pushing his brother’s buttons to get his brother to open up.

“Someday, I’ll be leaving for my starship, too.”

Yep. Sure you will.

Now now. Ron Moore has repaid his honor debt to us by giving us BSG and Caprica.

Ouch. Low blow Me sad. :frowning:

“Perhaps some blood pie.”

Food does remind you of home.

My grandmother made the worst lasagna ever. But I loved it because it reminded me of the times I spent with her on the weekend, going to movies, toy stores, playground.

I miss my grandma.

You know, while they were at it, he should have killed Worf’s parents too.

Go for the trifecta of slaughtering beloved characters.

Always liked Robert.
