So my brother has been raving about this service. I downloaded it. I don’t get it. What is the allure, playing any song at any time? Is there something I am missing?
No – to a large extent, that pretty much sums it up from what I can tell. For people that don’t carry a massive music collection around with them at all times (or stream it from their own home server), though, I see how it’s an attractive service. As far as I can tell, it’s basically Rhapsody with some buffed up social interaction and a subscription-free option.
The one cool thing is that if you’re a Facebooker and your FB friends use Spotify they can share playlists and what they’re listening to. It’s a good way to check out new music. Or in my case, you can find out your teenage son is into My Little Pony techno remixes and J-Pop.
