Spartacus: War of the Damned *spoilers*

I just finished the season finale of the final season of Saprtacus. Phew, what a ride! I had to watch a few days behind every week so I never really got into any discussions, but I’d love to know what anyone thought of it. I personally thought that it wrapped really well and I loved the callbacks throughout the last episode and the credits.

My favorite character development shown is Gannicus. I love that he found his purpose in life and still kept true to his gladiator roots.

Any favorite moments?

A week later, and the episode has been on my mind since. I was seriously considering not watching the finale, because who wants to see all that badness happen? But now that it’s over, I think it’s one of the more satisfying season finales I’ve ever seen.

Spartacus leaping into battle, I actually pumped my fist, clapped, and said, “YEAH!”

When Crassius broke out that grab-the-sword movie, I died a little inside. Like, “NO, THIS CAN’T BE IT!”

And the credits thing at the end, so great. The show not only killed dozens of good characters, but always came up with worthy replacements.

Liam Mac did a great job stepping into the role of Spartacus. Now that his second season is over, when I look at him & the late great Mr. Whitfield side-to-side, I don’t see one as better.

Steven S. DeKnight’s twitter feed has been a steady stream of readable tidbits. Plenty of amazingly dumb questions and complaints from viewers, but it’s worth catching up:

If hell exists in the Sparta-verse, I hope Ashur is the demon in charge of Tiberius.

ps. Here’s an awesome podcast that ends with a long discussion of the finale, but the bulk of it is an interview with Steven S. DeKnight. By Mo Ryan & Ryan McGee:
