Spartacus post-season discussion (spoilers)

The finale was great. It was so painful to watch so many of the great villains die, but I guess the next season will focus going head to head against Glaber.

I see though why so many of the cast we willing to sign on to a prequel…

Count me with the people who were unimpressed by the first few episodes. You guys talking it up kept me going, and the last half of the season was really excellent.

I love Lucretia’s scheming but without Batiatus (or the rest of the power structure that supported her) I don’t see how it would work. I think her part of the story is done.

I loved that line. It might be one of my favorites of the whole series.

I also can’t wait for Ilythia to get her comeuppance… I loved Lucretia bossing her around, but as soon as she was sent to see to the guards… I knew she’d survive.

Producers have narrowed the Spartacus replacement actors down to 3:

I’m sad to see Andy’s departure. Will be tough whoever follows him in that epic portrayal.

Kill them all is one of the best series finales I’ve ever seen!

Short, sweet, to-the-point,… so testoterony in a Metallica kind of way.

Leonidas would’ve been proud.

You guys do know that the slave rebellions were eventually put down? All 50,000 of them. The last time the Romans’ were this scared, Hannibal was coming down the alps.

Just found this thread and I absolutely appreciate it. My first episode was halfway through the season, a friend made me watch and I’m so glad that I was hooked enough to go back to the beginning and watch the whole season. thanks netflix!

I liked the passion, emotion and intensity that was present in every episode. I’m hoping that something comes next, whether it be the prequel or a replacement (good luck to whomever they choose!) for Spartacus and keep the story going…

I like that everyone shares similar opinions about how everything played out. Hope that’s what they were going for since it worked so well!

Welcome aboard, Galaxy_Rising!

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena trailer. Prequel miniseries coming in January:

Hooray! That’s exciting. I shall patiently await… Thanks for sharing

A few sweet promotion pics:

I’m eagerly awaiting more of Doctore’s backstory.

very exciting. A good variety of glimpses into the future. Doctore was one of the most intriguing characters, I think. We knew enough to make him interesting and know what mostly made him tick, but you’re right not the reasons behind it all.

A new BTS video I found from Gods of the Arena:

so exciting. really looking forward to all of the character development and action. This Spartacus knows how it’s done.

Since Dexter, we know that we’ll see much more of Lila. And the rest of the bunch…IBIMB

Was surprised to see that Solonius (Batiatus rival lanista) will be in this prequel.

Good news: There WILL be a Spartacus season 2.

Bad news: Not until 2012.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

ALL of Spartacus season 1 is on Starz On Demand. Check it out. Feel free to skip eps 2 & 3, maybe 4. But do not skip 'em all.

Since they haven’t cast a lead yet for Andy Whitfield, I’m not that surprised that we’ll “only” get the Prequel this year. Nonetheless I’m eager and would have been happy to see it return earlier.

Gods of the Arena is here. And it’s so good to have it back. Brief comments on episode 1:

“That’s hot.”

Discuss.

Yeah get the discussion going. Here is my take.

It was wonderful to see John Hannah (as younger Batiatus) and Lucy Lawless (Lucretia) again. The motivation of Batiatus to become a well known Lanista is shown from the first second and it is interesting to see what a friendship he and Solonius had. I’m sure it’ll end it tragedy, either Solonius or Batiatus will betray the other, or both.
Oenameus (Doctore from Blood&Sand) with his wife who seems to be the head-slave in the House of Batiatus gives us some background to his character.
Is it only me or does the slave girl to which she talks look exactly like Naevia from Season 1?? EDIT: Wow, is Naevia! I suspected she would be about 25 in BAS, and since GOA is happening, maybe 10 years earlier) she wouldn’t look the same in this Prequel.
Of course the blood and sex scenes are as glorious as always.
We see so many dead or still alive characters. Barca, Ashur and how Batiatus bought Crixus.
My only complaint so far is, that I despise Gannicus a bit and I’m not really rooting for him. He’s just drinking and f****** around and not worthy to be a champion.
Since Jaime Murray played a very dangerous character in Dexter, I believe that she will leave some corpses in her wake as well in this series.
What else did you Spartacus fans think of the first episode??

Has anyone checkout these motion comics:
http://www.hulu.com/spartacus-blood-and-sand-motion-comic

They are actually pretty good

I just watched Gods of the Arena… is it just me or is this more fun than the original series :stuck_out_tongue:

I mean Batiatus trying so hard to reach the top is the more fun portion of the original series for me. There’s a lot less whine because the lack of Spartacus. Apparently the rest of the slaves don’t mind losing their freedom as much as Spartacus.

The blind fold fight is just awesome, and naked people everywhere…

For some scenes I thought they used another actor to play Batiatus. John Hannah did an amazing job with playing a younger version of Batiatus.

It’s interesting to see how characters changed from here to Blood and Sand. Especially the relationships between Batiatus and Solonius. The strong friendship they share in the prequel twists my mind, since we know how horrible things went down between them in blood and sand.

I just had a chance to watch the new episode! Yes it is awesome!

I am really liking the start of the character development and am interested to see how they will continue to show the ‘back stories’ for all of the characters we know. I agree Navia (sp?) should look younger somehow… she seems exactly the same at the moment, but I think the rest of the characters have un-aged very well. Also interesting to see Lucretia as a goody-two-shoes knowing how she behaves later in life.

I know I’ll keep watching!
