sorry if this has been said or made clear already and i know were almost to the end here but did they say yet who made the 5 who then made the 8 others? cause if ellen made cavil in her dad’s image was that her “cylon dad” or did the centurians make the skin jobs first? this stuff is actually keeping me up! was also thinking of doing a “unresolved plot point” thread after finale…i cant see how they are gonna get so many questions i have explained…anyways more on that in 3 weeks…uuuugg please help! thanks!
the 13th tribe of cylons can have conception. the final five were born not that different from a regular human. because the 13th tribe had this ability, they lost the resurrection technology because it was no longer needed.
that’s why when they were warned of the cycle restarting, they had the final 5 hurry to reinvent resurrection. they succeeded not long before the nukes hit erf. So only themselves escaped the holocaust by resurrecting on the ship orbiting erf.
The final 5 decided to warn the 12th tribe of the cycle and headed for the colonies. when they got there, the 12 colonies already reinvented their own cylons and started the cycle. their cylons tried to recreate human life, but they got as far as the hybrids. that’s when the final five requested them to stop warring with humans, and in turn would give them 8 models and resurrection.
that’s pretty much as much as we know right now.
ahhh right thanks for the explaination! i hope they show that footage on the show or in “the plan”…
Nice clear, concise explanation.
You know what I still don’t get is,
The lords of Kobol made the humans on Kobol.
The humans made artificial life (metal cylons or flesh cylons?).
(Something missing here)
The flesh cylons grew to become the 13th Tribe.
Ok, so who the frak are the Lords of Kobol? And who made them?
Ok, there’s Larsen, Moore, Eick, Espensen …
I’m sticking with them being S7 type Cylons from an earlier part of the cycle.
that would certainly play into the idea of a cycle where roles are reversed
I’m sticking with… frak if I know.
And, given the proper circumstances (such as the passage of time and/or the scrolls being suspect in their reflections on the harmonious relations of the Lords and humans), S7 types could well appear to be “god like” to humans.
This also ties into the thought I have been relentlessly proclaiming that a Cavil/Lord ultimately became the Lord who wanted to be placed above all others (aka the jealous Lord).
Where did you get the part where the Erf Cylons hook up with the Colonial Cylons?
that was sam anders’ last ramble i think.
Ellen and Anders told “us” in the info dump episode that the FF went to the Colonies to try and prevent the inevitable cycle war between Cylons and their human makers. Found it (the 1st Cylon War) already underway. Cut a deal with the metallic Cylons (aka the Colonial Cylons) to help them create skinjobs, if they would cease hostilities with the humans. Which was done and resulted in John Cavil. (Which always makes me think of John Calvin and all that that implies.) And the other 7, including Daniel.
From Ellen and Anders in No Exit.
Ok, I agree with you OT, all that makes sense, but then my question doesn’t really go away. So who were the original “Lords of Kobol” in the first cycle? The Gods, humans?
Humans came first, because they evolved from the primordial ooze. Even a cycle has to start somewhere - so we’ll start with organic creatures.
Then the rest is so frakkin’ easy we should have figured out before the premiere of the miniseries (sort of our own BSG cycle). You see, we figure it out, then they make it, then we forget it, then… (I’m starting to sound like Crow T. Robot.)
This sure is great fun !
