Is there some cow ship that makes dairy products out there?
I imagine it would have to be one of the most secure ships in the fleet since the raving mobs would probably try to get at some cows for meat.

These people seriously are gonna be malnourished after awhile if all they have is algae and water. Too bad the cylons cant resurrect anymore. The extra bodies would have made for an interesting solution to this problem…

There will be a point that the food and tyllium run out and with each jump that goes to a potential star system that may support life but ultimately come up empty , the Fleet is going to have to make a choice about retunring to Kobol.

Adama is lookiing at a rip in the top of the wall near the ceiling goign across the room. He just took another drink though so is it a hallucination? or is it real? Could it be that the ship can’t hold the intergrity of the FTL jumps?
An intriguing idea that was not mine orignally… but it would be cool to watch the fleet have to “Abandon Ship”[/spoiler]
Regarding the malnourished thing, as long as the algae possesses the right vitamin content, they should be able to subsist on it forever. It may not taste good, it may be disgusting as can be, but it’ll keep them alive.
Interestingly, while the fleet seemed to have exhausted all other food ingredients other than algae they harvest, they do appear to have an unlimited supply of cigarettes. One of the ships to survive the 12 colonies apocalypse appear to have been the Marlboro delivery ship.
They still have an Botanical Cruiseri (Silent Running class:)).
I saw it recently (last thre eps I think). So perhaps it is just a ciggie factory anyway? Perhaps Algae food is being mass produced and it just makes sense for a military vessel to using that supply across the board.
Edit: Botanical Ship is definetly in ‘Guess What’s Coming to Dinner’ just after Tigh say ‘What The Frak?’ in CIC you cross to a scene of Vipers on their way to the rebel basestar.

I’d like to see a running count of ships left in the fleet and what was left of botanical and tyllium ships…it will also be interesting to see what the death count goes to after this storyline “resloves”
And while the domes could be used to grow food, after The Passage, many of the domes were very very very brown. I doubt windows would protect greenery from intense radiation.
