Smallville

Just finished listening to that episode actually

Not going to go through their archive until I get to that point in my watch, even though I’ve done enough research that I’d probably get the gist of what they’re talking about. Since I’ll be watching Season 10 as it airs, I will listen to new episodes though.

Or their car insurance rate was why they were back to almost losing the farm at the beginning of this season even though they accepted money from Lex last season.

yeah i thought that episode wouldn’t be fun and the audio is a bit jacked up, but i was GUILTY~~, it was hilarious. they had so much fun just talking about Tom Welling.

i miss SkyNext… TSCC is worth watching for their podcast alone.

Yeah, I also had to stop listening yesterday during my drive since the audio besides from Derek was to low, even with my ipod and my earphones volume on full power. But since I couldn’t sleep last night, listening to it was the best thing to pass the time.

:frowning: Don’t remember me how frakking awesome the TSCC/SkyNext combo was.

Episode 305 - Perry

Nice special effects with the comet at the start.

Kansassians? Perry really isn’t what I expected.
Drunk, talking on a cell phone and looking at a map at the same time? He was just begging for an accident there.

The psychiatrist looks familiar, but I can’t place her.
Nice retcon on the malaria.

Perry really isn’t good at making first impressions. Especially with Lana, but the way things started with Chloe wasn’t all that great either.

“Memories fade, but Google Search never forgets.”
Nice history with Perry and Lex. Perry may have been a respectable journalist then, but that’s still a dick move.

Flying tractor! And it almost hits Perry!
Not sure why Clark didn’t just keep running when he saw Perry there.

Nice follow up scene with Perry and Chloe.

Good job making it look like Clark wasn’t trying to super run.

From that conversation with Lex, it looks like Perry’s smarter than he lets on.

I should have realized that Clark’s heat vision hadn’t gone haywire yet.

Nice foreshadowing at the end with Perry and Clark.

In general, I like how every time it looks like Clark’s secret is about to come out, something happens to strengthen his cover. First it was when his powers got stolen back in Season 1, now this.

I’m going to try to get through this disc before Tuesday, but after that, I’m going to be marathoning through Chuck Season 3 so I can get all the way caught up before Season 4 starts.

Episode 306 - Relic
Why would Dex pick up the gun? Seems like a really bad idea.

“It’s not like you just fell out of the sky.”

I’ve probably noticed this before, but Pete and Clark seem to talk about Clark’s secret in public a lot.

“Your family isn’t exactly a Norman Rockwell painting.” Understatement of the century, Chloe.

They did a good job of making the barn set look different in the flashback.

“Not all enterpreneurs can have the luxury of being both successful and honest.” And none of them who can have the last name Luthor.

Earth Angel was a nice song choice for a few different reasons.

Louise died because of a riccochet off Jor-El? Nice twist. Usually I don’t think about what happens to the bullets once they bounce off Clark. Another nice twist is that it looks like the love letter was from Tate.

Great callback to the movie with Joe taking off while holding Louise. I suppose with Clark’s fear of heights, it was the only way they could get that in.

Clark is a really terrible liar.
I guess Clark landing in Smallville wasn’t really a coincidence.

Really fun ending with Clark playing the “Ghost of Kryptonians Past”

Overall, this was an odd episode, but a fun one. It feels like they should have put in the Superman theme somewhere, but I’m not sure exactly where. Maybe when Clark got the journal (or a slowed down version during the flying date scene).

Episode 307 - Magnetic

The fair is after school already started? That’s a bit weird.

This is the first freak of the week episode this season. Nice that they’re moving away from those. Oh, and they’re going to play up the jealousy angle again.

Something I just realized about a lot of these freak of the week episodes - why doesn’t Clark react to the kryptonite in the freaks’ blood? Is the concentration not high enough?

I wonder if Lana’s openness to Seth’s ability was due to her being under his influence.

Looks like Chloe still has a bit of a crush on Clark. Guessing she didn’t have to think too hard to come up with that cover.

As much as he’s worried about Lana, flaming the pavement seems a bit out of character for Clark. With as fast as Seth was driving, it could have caused an accident.

The Chloe/Lex scene had just the right mix of humor and creepyness for the situation.

Seems like Pete hasn’t had too much to do so far this season. Wonder if they’re getting ready to write him out.
Nice non-super solution for Clark finding Seth and Lana. I hope that as he develops his powers he doesn’t end up relying too heavily on them.

I was wondering how they’d avoid Lana seeing Clark’s powers in the fight. I wonder if Seth’s abilities would have drawn the bulletsto him if Lana had fired.

When Clark had to do community service last season, he didn’t have to wear the jacket Lana did. Wonder if that was a recent policy change or because his service was on the roadway.

OK episode. A lot of the elements weren’t exactly original, but Seth being able to alter Lana’s magnetic field was a nice touch. Overall, I’d say it’s the weakest of the season so far, but still better than a good chunk of season 1.

you will get more perry later. and this time he will be employed, respectable and brilliant again.

as for Chuck season 3, it really ties in with Smallville, it’s a good thing you’ve been watching Smallville before watching Chuck season 3.

LOL, good one.

I also really enjoyed that episode. Clark and Lana working together, wonderful. Achieving exposing the bad guys mostly with intelligence, awesome.

And Tom Welling looks SOOOO good in his 50s hair.

it’s sad that i don’t even remember this episode…

Off topic, but I started watching Chuck as it aired at around American Hero. Picked up a couple episodes on rerun between the first 13 and the back 6 (including the first of the Kristen Kreuk ones for a tie in there  ).

she looked ridiculously pretty as Hanna… she deserves to get a well written role that will have her on TV every week.

Episode 308 - Shattered
I didn’t know plastic surgeons did house calls.
Nice open, but I almost think it would have been better if it went to credits at the end of the warehouse scene.

You’d think Lex would have put in a different security system after his dad went back to Metropolis last season.

Awesome cleanup job.

LOL at the “Alien Love Slave” cover hanging on the wall in the Torch office. Wonder if some other student put that up as a prank on Chloe and she just decided to keep it for a laugh.

“If he wanted you to know where he was, you probably would.” Nice, Clark. That works on a few different levels.

Guess Lex really is a bit nutso.

Darius showed back up. Were they using Tranq guns? We saw stuff break from hits, so it couldn’t have been blanks.
How did Clark get Lex out of the mansion?

Chloe seems to have lots of sources that are willing to break confidentiality laws for her.

Ouch at the horse attack.
Paranoid Lex with a gun = bad news.

At least this time that he screwed up, Clark is trying to fix it rather than looking for the nearest red Kryptonite.

Nice crazy acting from Michael Rosenbaum.
“And hey, why not do the whole thing on Oprah? Spill our dysfunctional guts on national TV like regular people do!”  I don’t think Springer could contain the dysfunction of the Luthors.

Clark’s acting a bit crazy this episode too.

Wow, nice car crunch there. Wonder if that killed Edge or Lex did.

And in order to preserve his secret, Clark has to strengthen the case for Lex being crazy.

This last scene may be the most sincere I’ve ever seen Lionel.

Nice Johnny Cash over the last few scenes.

she’s a charmer. the only people that can resist Chloe-charm must be some kind of dumb alien… oh wait…

Episode 309 - Asylum
“Keep Out” sign at a sanitarium seems kind of redundant.
They have a line for getting pills? Seems like a bad idea.
Speaking of bad ideas - why would they have Lex at the same institution as someone who tried to kill him.

I’d be crazy too if I had to sleep on a metal bed with no bedding.
You know, Lex, your breakout attempt might have worked if you filled a syringe with bleach and threatened to inject it into the doctor unless they let you out.
Wow, long teaser.

Nice that they didn’t hit the reset button on Lana’s injury.
Adam is a bit of a dick. And then he hit the Clark hot button.

The only interest Lionel has is on his bank accounts.

I don’t think Superboy would count as a freak. He got a power transfer, not kryptonite poisioning.

Wait, I think I just figured out who Lex’s doctor is. She’s Elosha, isn’t she?

“Nothing says ‘I love you’ more than a $1.50 piece of cardboard.” I love Chloe.

“I just want you to meet my better half.”

Adam’s backstory sounds a bit familiar, but I’m not enough of a comic fan to place it.

Pete’s having trouble keeping the secret? First step would be to not talk about it in crowded hallways… or in Chloe’s office.

Superboy took off his glasses before showing that the powers transferred. Nice touch.
Bowling for gas canisters. Strike!
They resolved the revenge plot really quickly. Kind of anticlimactic for Clark to only lose his powers for 3 minutes after all the buildup.

Lex is grateful to Lionel? Did he have Lex brainwashed too?

I suppose these two eps could be seen as a two parter. Not bad, but maybe a little too separate (I think they said Lex had been at the institution for a month). The guys wanting revenge on Clark was a good idea, but it didn’t really have enough payoff for the amount of buildup.

Is she!? oh my, i need to go back and see that.

As for Lana’s injury, it was sa good touch, as well as Adam, but they kind of pulled the plug on that i think…

Episode 310 - Whisper
Clark’s heat vision looked more like pulses than the beams it usually is. Could have just been the angle.
Ouch! Reflected heat vision.

“What’s the worst that can happen? Go to school and walk through a wall?”

You know, it was about time for another “new power” episode. What powers are left? Flight, obviously. Super breath. Anything else?

Is a barn loft really the best place for someone who just went blind?

Nice effects on the super hearing.
Jonathan is sick?
“You both think you’re supermen!”

I can understand Chloe’s awkwardness. I’ve had a blind friend for 5 years, and I still drop “see” in conversations every once in a while.
“Your silence is deafening.” Possibly quite literally if his super hearing kicked in there.

Clark gets around pretty well for being blind.

“Your son’s earwitness testimony isn’t much help.” Not really a fan of this sheriff, but for that line, I’m willing to make an exception.
Is this the first time we’ve seen Pete’s mom?

Wow, Clark’s normal hearing was almost enough to save the day there (which would have been a nice twist).
Clark’s eyes must have already started recovering for him to react to the light from the torch.

Clark with glasses

3 hours to Metropolis? I thought they could see it from a windmill? I was guessing it was more like 30-45 minutes.

LOL at Pete modifying Clark’s rescue to try to impress girls

I always pause briefly after saying “see” in a conversation with a blind person and feel like an idiot. But, I believe my brief pause is actually worse and speaks louder than the word. I may be wrong though. When someone says “walk” or “run” around me, I’m never offended. shrugs I think “Your silence is deafening” could be quite humorous in certain situations, but I’m weird. d:

I recall his mom only once in that show. I could be wrong, but I’m too lazy to imdb it.

The time to Metropolis is dependent upon who is driving or running (smirks) or plot (bigger smirk). d:

I wouldn’t have had a problem with 3 hours if they hadn’t shown the Metropolis skyline from a windmill just outside Smallville. That was still a bit hard to believe, but I was willing to work with it.

i loved this episode, as well as the next new power episodes. i think these episodes are what smallville is really about. and we get to see how Clark learned to use his powers, and find out the weaknesses in his powers.

I think the problem with saying “see” to a blind person is that “you see” is such a common phrase, and it has a “you” in it, sort of implying you should see. I was blind for a couple of days, all the blood in my eyes made the world bright white, and that’s good, because when the blood and clot is finally absorbed by the body i was able to see again. I think for someone who is just blind he probably wouldn’t feel too sensitive about the word “see” being used.

maybe there are often bad traffic jams going to metropolis on those tiny smallville roads.
