4-Year-Old Can Be Sued, Judge Rules in Bike Case
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/29/nyregion/29young.html?no_interstitial
The suit that Justice Wooten allowed to proceed claims that in April 2009, Juliet Breitman and Jacob Kohn, who were both 4, were racing their bicycles, under the supervision of their mothers, Dana Breitman and Rachel Kohn, on the sidewalk of a building on East 52nd Street. At some point in the race, they struck an 87-year-old woman named Claire Menagh, who was walking in front of the building and, according to the complaint, was “seriously and severely injured,” suffering a hip fracture that required surgery. She died three months later.
What in the world…
how about this one… where just silly up here in canada.
Teen babysitter sued after young boy starts fire
A 14-year-old girl who was hired to watch a five-year-old boy is now being sued after the young boy set fire to his home while on the girl’s watch.
Back in July of 2007, a then 11-year-old Aaliyah Braybrook was hired to watch the boy at his Clairmont, Alta. residence…
A lawsuit has now been filed by the insurance company of the young boy’s grandparents who owned the home next door. Documents state that Kendall and Diane Mills’ home was badly damaged by the fire after flames spread quickly…
The lawsuit alleges Braybrook acted as a babysitter without proper training, failed to supervise the young boy, and failed to call for help in a “timely fashion”, thereby allowing the fire to spread next door.
The father of the now eight-year-old boy is also being sued. The young babysitter’s family is outraged by the claims and says she should be given credit for rescuing the young boy, his three-year-old sibling and the family’s dog from the burning house.
The teen tells CTV News at the time of the blaze, the fire chief said she did everything right.
“He said I was a hero,” the young girl said. “I just went and checked – grabbed the kids and got out.”
thats right the grand parents sue the 12 year old babysitter who saves there grand childrens lives and there own son the father of the 5 year old that started the fire.
my head hurts now…
Sounds like it’s the insurance company that’s being evil. That makes perfect sense.
i know; its just the grand parents must have signed off on it during there claim right and maybe withdraw the claim when they realized who they were sueing?
Got mine today. Sauce messed up hands though. d:
I’m part of the problem… d:
If loving McRibs is wrong, I don’t want to be right.
As someone who worked at a McDonalds in college, McRibs were a total pain in the ass. They had a different grill setting from either size of burger, meaning one of the grils had to be switched back and forth, they took up room in the warming cabinets, meaning we had to cook other stuff more often, and the sauce meant we had to reorganize the condiments area.
Plus, they don’t taste all that good.
Hehe.
Compared to real ribs, sure. For those of us who can’t get real ribs, they are good enough™.
While I don’t agree with suing kids, as a parent I’m terrified with the idea of one of KidsAZ’s screw-ups getting me in trouble. Those cases are extreme, but the reality is people can come up with all kinds of crazy stuff.
I don’t eat McRibb- I agree it’s wrong, but I’m not above shoving a bunch of Chicken McNuggets in my mouth.
