Show us you video

It seems the picture thread is doing well so I thought what about a video thread. I like shooting video out the window at work and I get what I think are cool vids. I know you all have to have cool stuff so lets see it!!!

My first offering…

A stretch of track between Bow and Bellingham known as the Chuckanut on the BNSF Bellingham Subdivision. We were on our way to New Westminster Canada on an early early morning.

Btw if anyone could tell me how to embed the video i would be greatfull.

Type (Youtube)Opu801gGiRc(/Youtube) using the identifier number after the = in the url and replacing the parentheses () with brackets []…

BTW, cool video. Is that shown at real speed? You certainly come up on the scenery fast in a train…

Thanks too bad it shows it only shows it in low quality click the link and see it in High quality. Anyway most of my train vids are sped up 4 x. In the last video we only get up to about 25 mph…

in this one we get up to 45… wait until you see the 60 mph track!!!

Ballard to Mukilteo Washington along the BNSF track north of Seattle along Puget Sound on an early summer evening. at the end we stopped short of a red block that can’t be seen in the video so as not to block a crossing.

Thanks for the Kick A$$ ride. I know the day to day can kill the view but I bet there are days you just look at all the beauty and just smile at having that job.

Thanks agian for taking the time to capture a view that most of us will never get to see.

Gammera - are you the driver of the train? That has to be the COOLEST job!

Some times its hard to remeber its a cool job… like when they call you to work at 2 AM!!! This is the first video I made. Berne Wa to Scenic Wa via the BNSF Cascade tunnel in early April. Built in the 1920’s by the Great Northren Railroad the tunnel is just under 8 miles long and cuts through the top of the Cascade Mts. At 4x speed it looks like 100 mph(still not fast enough!!)

This vid I had to split into two parts. This is how you drive a 7000 ton train down the side of a mountain!! While the average grade of the Chumstick cut off is only 1.6% as compared to the 2.2% grades between Merritt and Berne, and Scenic and Skykomish, the Chumstick is still one of the more challenging stretches of track an engineer will run. To safely run a 7,000 ton train down the side of this mountain often requires the engineer to have six to twelve pounds of air set on the train brakes and the locomotive dynamic brakes screaming like a 747 jet. Add a 45 mph speed limit and a couple of sags just to mess it all up makes it feel like you are on the bleeding edge of controlled chaos.

I know there are more video makers out there. show us your stuff. Most of this video is shown in the picture thread since its a photo montage.
