Shadows Over Camelot

Has anyone in the GWC community played this game? It sounds interesting and, as always, I am looking at it with an eye toward how it might play with my son, soon to be seven years old. Some on-line reviews make it sound as if the rule books are needlessly complicated, that it actually plays pretty well. It also makes it sound like games only last 90 minutes at most, which is a plus – my son likes to play “Risk,” but I can hardly stand it because it takes frakking forever…!

Anyway, any feedback/stories people could share would be welcome!

I think it was Feartheboot or TheD6Generation that reviewed this game last month or so. They talked like it was amazing. (Those are two great gaming podcasts by the way, just search iTunes).

Thanks, I’ll check it out!

If you are talking about the board/strategy game then YES I have played it.

It is FRAKING AWESOME! Its not you against the players (unless someones a traitor) its the players versus the game. And its different almost everytime. Its worth the money. IMO

Yeah, the fact that it is a cooperative game (unless you’re the traitor) is what appeals to me, since my kid is a little bit too much into “I want to win” when it comes to board games right now.

Does it move quickly? Is it easy to learn? Okay for a seven year old?

Thanks for the reply!

We play with a total of 5 people… It takes about an hour and a half for the five of us… It is easy to learn… A seven year old may have difficulty with the vs. the game stratigy… There are some “mechanical” rules you could get hung up on…but these tend to be…at very specific times…

If you play with a group of people…It’s nice because you have the time to plan what you’re going to do before it’s your turn…and it’s easy to adjust your plan as it goes from person to person… Also, you can all talk to eachother about what may be the best thing to do for each person… The game can’t call meta-gaming…heehehehee…

Adding the trader makes things fun…and a little more difficult…but it does speed up play.

All in all…I love the game… Mainly because it is different each and everytime you play it.
