Hey it’d give me reason to watch Star Trek(And next gen and voyager and DS9 etc)
Please clarify? Do you intend on watching single Star Trek episodes? Do you mean to say you’ve never seen Star Trek?
Watch the one where Sulu fenses naked.
Did I…post this in the wrong place? Que?
Damnit put this back where it belongs, I meant to post in the arc suggestion list. Cause I think it’d make a good arc.
DP,
I moved the thread as it did not appear to fit the forum. There have been several other threads that were inadvertantly created in the arc suggestion area.
As your initial post made no mention of an arc or series I moved it over to the Star Trek forum where it appeared to belong. Now that you have stated your intention that you want to do a “Best of Trek” arc I have moved it back.

Ya know, Normy, it’s a little know fact that moving Threads back and forth and back and forth is how sewing was invented.

Yeah, that’s good point. Some of my favorite episodes----like Measure of Man for example—don’t have nearly the same impact if you haven’t yet gotten to know and care about the character Data.
So my list of episodes I’d recommend to those who never watched the show, would be very different from my list of personal favorite episodes.
But for the sake of the “arc” idea, I’d love to see a GWC Podcast arc on Best Data Episodes perhaps.
Solai being all formal and all. <3 Solai
Also like fun, often quoted episodes like Qpid or even like just Q episodes
I have seen DVD boxes that included like “The best Picard episodes” or “The best time travel episodes” and such
If it’s going to be a general best episodes of Star Trek, it must include DS9’s ‘In the Pale Moonlight’. I love that episode. I suppose something like best episode for each captain, not necessarily the best episode of each series but where the captain is at their best. Picard’s would have to be ‘The Inner Light’. Sisko’s the aforementioned episode. The other captains I’m not so sure. For Kirk I’d go with ‘Balance of Terror’.
“The Corbomite Maneuver” is another good Kirk episode.
“The Inner Light” is great Picard episode. But it’s not a Picard In Command episode. So there could be “Captain’s best episodes” arc and a “Captains in Command” arc. (Listen to me, I am SUCH a geek!)
Personally, the greatest Startrek DS9 episode is Waltz, followed closely by Far Beyond the Stars.
Unfortunately since you really need to have a great understanding of the characters to gain any appreciation for these 2 episodes, if you are a DS9 virgin, I would recommand Season 4 The Visitor.
The pa and son story in The Visitor is truely touching and is unlike anyother stories i’ve seen on TV. To me, the single dad raising his son story should is the core of DS9, though sometime they lost sight of that. But not in The Vistor, so I think it’s a great start for anyone new to DS9.
My vote would go to:
TOS:
The City On the Edge of Forever
TNG:
The Inner Light
All Good Things
DS9:
Duet
The Visitor
In the Pale Moonlight
Far Beyond The Stars
VOY:
Timeless
Year Of Hell
ENT:
Broken Bow
TOS: The Enterprise Incident
Honorable mention: City on the Edge of Forever
TNG: Cause and Effect
Honorable mention: Yesterday’s Enterprise
DS9: In the Pale Moonline

Honorable mention: LOWER DECKS
DS9:

WHISPERS
VOY:

IN A MIRROR, DARKLY
Alright, I’ll throw my votes for episodes in a rewatch:
Original Series:
Balance of Terror
City on the Edge of Forever
TNG:
Yesterday’s Enterprise
Best of Both Worlds part 1 and 2
Parallels
All Good Things
DS9:

Enterprise:
Silent Enemy
Minefield
Twilight
Movies- 2,3,4,6 maybe First Contact
Not just my favorites, but ones that I think would make ammusing podcasts.
On the character arcs:
I think it would be a great way to compile the episodes for a podcast, though I suppose the next step would be picking who gets to be featured.
When I was young, I remember my dad having those compilation character arcs boxsets that looked pretty awesome, with the face of the character in contour on the side of the box. He had the silver Data face boxset, which contained 3 videotapes of all the Data centric episodes, which I as a child also used as a mask. Good times. Did they have this with the other STs, or was this purely TNG?
Which reminds me. I know some people found him to be annoying, but I really liked the episodes with Q in it, and would love a podcast arc on this particular character. (I second the Worf arc as well.) I remember this one episode where Data saved his life or something, and as a gift, he gave Data a laugh. I thought it was the sweetest thing ever!
OK, I’m being a total girl.
